It should work, though you may need to use /gamepad2 X and /gamepad3 Y (via chat; where X, Y are controller numbers 1 to 12) to map controllers - Steam Remote Play Together is known to sometimes put gamepads in unusual slots or not put them anywhere at all (check the popout window to verify that each player's gamepad is recognized)
