Hi there! I'm Wandil from FroG team. We've created a game called "Keep It Rising, Stupid" and we want to know your opinions, the game is about avoiding to fall over the screen and climb the higher you can to survive. So if you want, you can give us your feedback. It will help us so much.

Hi Wandil,

Congratulations for the game! I took a look at it, it looks quite impressive and fun. It is quite stable, and it’s core gameplay is finished, so some of my ideas might be a bit nit-picking. Here’s my feedback on it:

  • The game shows a fading “Made with Unity” logo, then it shows the same thing but using the red square character. I’m not sure if that’s mean as the logo of the game, or the logo of your group? It would be better accompanied by some text, either with the name of your game, or the name or your group.

  • The game starts instantly after these fading icons. The character sits on the bottom of the screen, and waits the user’s first input to start jumping. However the falling platforms can trigger a game over, even if the user hasn’t started playing. I would suggest to show a “Touch the screen to start” or similar message there, probably accompanied by the game’s logo and title.

  • About the onboarding icon that tries to teach the user how to play, when it’s rolling upwards it looks like a joystick with an arrow pointing down.

  • The character has 3 jumps total until they can’t jump anymore unless they land on a platform. Even though there is some graphic below the character to show that, I think it’s quite discreet, for such an important functionality.

  • Sometimes I would trigger a bug, when the character is directly below a platform and I tried to jump, the character would just drop down. Not sure if this is actually a bug, or the character just bumps on the platform itself and then falls down. I would suggest the attached platform to not contribute to collisions anymore to make gameplay a bit more smooth.

  • For the pause menu, I really like pixel art, but one thing to make it look attractive, is for all elements to have the same pixel size. Currently the background has big pixels, exept from the character that sits there which has tiny pixels. The buttons on top seem to be somewhere in between.

  • The buttons on the pause menu all have different graphics. To my understanding they resemble different planets. This sounds quite fun, but makes the whole overlay look quite busy with colors. In general, especially when it comes to touch screens, it’s better for all interactable elements to share some visual characteristic, to make it extremely obvious that the user is meant to interact with them.

  • The skins in the shop look fun and diverse. I’m not sure if they would look even more fun if they didn’t have names, so users would come up with their own names instead.

  • The locked skins in the shop are obscured by the coin with their price, so it’s hard to see what the user is buying.

  • The close button looks a bit out of place, like it doesn’t belong with the rest of the game.

  • The credits have not been translated to english. I’m not sure if that was intentional or not, depending on who you expect to read them.

  • The version number appears on the game’s name when launching the app. Not sure if that’s needed, would be better to display it somewhere inside the game, in a discreet place.

That’s all I could come up with. These are all my personal opinions, so feel free to keep only the ones you like :)
