From the Feedback Pairing:

After playing Divided Hand, the gameplay was what stood out to me the most. I enjoyed the concept of having to juggle between defense and attack cards. Although the game loop is unique and interesting, it got a little repetitive after a while. I would suggest maybe making it a realtime with cooldowns instead of turns to introduce the element of speed to decision making. Overall for the short time of a game jam, I believe this gameplay is well done.

For the visuals of the game, I think the art is well done and has a lot of good design language to the cards and UI. The only thing that gives me a hard time when it comes to the visuals is when the hand size gets bigger and the cards get hidden behind UI button elements, making it impossible to see the cost or descriptions sometimes. Overall, the art and UI felt the most polished with its animations and responsiveness. The art of the sprites and card elements were really beautifully incorporated and polished.

The game feel was well refined and has a lot of potential to continue developing into a larger project. Great job!

From the Feedback Pairing:

The Speed of Light was a very powerful storytelling game wrapped up into an entertaining rhythm runner. The cutscenes and visualization of grief/love really transformed the way I perceive the theme of the jam. The gameplay incorporates the theme very well and the rhythm runner game loop was well polished. I enjoyed the twisting of the path because it added a level of difficulty to keeping track of positioning and collecting the hearts. I do wish there was a progression bar or UI element that tracked current out of total gates and hearts so that I know how much is left in the game.

Visuals were consistent and polished in addition to the game loop. The use of bright colors and high contrast fit the music and amplified the scenes. The models used and the shader/materials went together seamlessly and gave off a very unique look that worked in its advantage.

The audio and music of the game were well selected and fit in with the gameloop. The only critique I have for the audio is having some sort of audio slider/adjuster to make it easier to adjust the levels. Some sound effects were ear piercing at times and loud.

The UI/UX is another example of the high polish this game had and I didn't have any issue with it at all. Subtitling for the narrative/cutscene sections were good. Indicators of the buttons and actionable moments were also well organized and executed.

Overall, this game’s storytelling was impactful and the gameplay that followed was a lot of fun and enjoyable. Awesome submission!

Thank you for playing and your insight! Yes, each run is randomized so it'll be different each time.

Very strong pixel art. This felt really aesthetic and complemented the game feel

The fishing mechanic is brilliant, I haven't seen any other game use that way to manage reeling in fish before!

I think it was smart to use the very problem to tell the story!

Easily some of the best story and music I've encountered in this jam! The art perfectly complimented the feel of this game. Outstanding work!

This was deficiently the best series of 'jumpscare' sequencing I have seen from any game in this jam. Very impressive!

Crewmate's dialogue was 10/10

The various endings make this game so much fun to replay! The art style is also very eye catching. Solid work!

Solid atmosphere, drove the story forward well

The mix of 3d and 2d elements was a nice touch! I would to see an extended story version since it was so captivating

Very solid theme and story that backs a quite entertaining game loop. I really enjoyed having to time my shots with picking up the sticks. Great game!

Really loving the retro 3d platformer feel. This one is the most underrated submission I've seen yet. I would really love to see a full release version of this!

Drop a comment with your or your team's submission and I'll go through and play/rate them!

Very cool game idea, I like the escape room feel it has to figuring out the key code of the diary. Well done!

One of my favorite games I have played in this jam so far! I really enjoy the unique spin on the horror/scream theme and puzzle element. Magnificent work!

Let me know what you think of ours!

Hello! I will be taking a look and rating your game

I'd glad you were able to figure it out and complete the game! If you wrongfully terminated a non-infected scientist  you would have gotten an alternate loss screen in the end with the amount of incorrect terminations listed. So it seems you correctly identified each day, good job!

Glorious bad endings

Strong narrative start and art direction, would love to see how it progresses beyond the intro

Art and visuals were very well executed with this one

The linear movement was an interesting touch, made the game feel restrictive in a good horror way

Loved the unique locked directional camera perspective, fits that retro inspired aesthetic very well. Underrated.

Max bet only for me. I did enjoy the card purchase mechanic

The very laborious driving mechanic adds to the sense of fear and urgency

Really loved the 4 directional movement and snappy fighting. The ending was as a unexpected twist. I really enjoyed it!

Here's how I did:

I really enjoyed the retro aesthetics and the collection of voice recordings which required careful analysis of the voice lines to unlock.

The environmental art/design is the strong suit of this game. Spectacular game feel as well in terms of movement and ambiance. Great work!

What an awesome run! That's the fastest time I've seen yet!

Very strong game loop here. The momentum and physics for the movement felt very satisfying, well done!

I really like the unique spin on the limitation, no pun intended. It was a lot of fun to try all the buttons and experiment with all the possibilities. I will be trying my best to beat the game!
