Companions do level up when you win with them accompanying you, you can also reallocate their stats and they'll keep whatever ratio you gave them. To give them essence you need to first put essence in their inventory using the button with arrows going either way at the top left of your inventory screen then use the essence from their inventory screen, and yea if you want them to actually be useful I'd recommend giving them essence and upgraded weapons.

Huh, I haven't encountered this but it should be a newbie protection or just a thing about her quest. Probably wants you to go do the slime dungeon first for the alchemist quest, I always went there first because it's easy to xp farm at the start of the game.

Encountered that jumping crash again. It happened when I was trying to enter the alchemist shop this time instead of trying to save. Using Q to swap interaction options on the save reliably stops this from happening, haven't tried just using Q without a swap option. Tell me if you need something from the logs or whatever. Huh, guess I can't just paste my screencap even though it shows up properly on my side, discord has spoiled me.

Well, I've played for a while now, so I'll catalogue all my issues here for you to look over.

BUGS:

1. for some reason every time you do the squatting minigame the camera will zoom out a little more until it is eventually under the floor, at which point when you try to do squats the minigame will break and the game will lock up forcing you to restart.

2. mimics can attempt to start combat with you while you are loading into another combat encounter which leads to the game crashing.

3. had a problem every now and then with saving in town crashing the game with an error popping up about jumping or something, I'll try to grab the info if it happens again.

4. had another crash when I tried to start combat with a worker in the overworld where the game tried to reference some NO_NAME and couldn't find it. Only ever had it happen once.

5. there's an issue with the dungeon spawning of the final dungeon which can produce fully walled off passageways, I had my way to the entrance to floor 5 blocked unfortunately.

6. slime halves your stat bonuses if you gain any stats while it's on you, meanwhile acid does not seem to halve stats like it states in the status description.

ISSUES:  mostly just balance stuff

1. size is probably the most important combat stat simply because of range issues. This is fine mostly, but when you're too big it becomes hard to pathfind and see things on the ground yet you need to stay that height because getting into a fight with a bigbarian or some other height scaling enemy would lead to an incredibly awful fight. I want to ask for a reversion to base height scaling or a separate combat height scaling option.

2. some weapons are incredibly overpowered. Shields, especially the stone shield give too much shield and AP while shielding nearby allies too and costing no AP, completely invalidates concentration while making you pretty much invulnerable. The meteor staff has a gigantic AOE explosion that knocks back, knocks down, and exponentially scales chest stat and thus it's own damage until you use something else. There are some others but I'd say these are the most standout picks for me.

3. size sword is problematic on enemies. I wouldn't say it's particularly overpowered on the PC, but against a group of bigbarians I see no way to survive but to spam the overpowered shields. There's no way to escape their full-map strikes and if they're significantly bigger than you then you have to attack from range, grow bigger yourself, or close the distance while taking huge damage. Considering defense is hard to come by it makes the size sword bigbarians suck to fight without a shield.

4. stun, just stun. It either stops you from doing nearly everything or is a minor inconvenience as you guard with your shield and continue to fight without moving because your shield gave you AP and shield and let you attack again. It can also practically end a fight in one move when you use it yourself. I'd recommend limiting stun from stacking at all or even just removing it.

That's about all for now, there's more I could comment on but I feel like I'd get a bit nitpicky at that point. Regardless the game is much better than I initially gave it credit for on first look. Keep up the good work. It should be noted that I'm on ver 6.7 but I didn't see any changes regarding these things in the 6.8 patch notes.

Preferences are for other characters I believe though I haven't gotten them to work yet, you can set your own scaling and lock your visual size in place in the character creator menu under the scaling tab.

Ok, so

1. Getting strong is really easy if you don't care how you do it, spamming potions can make you really strong for singular encounters, growth multiplier potions are especially powerful. Also make sure that you take all the buffs that you can at town like the mystery fruit, slime buff merchant dude, and exercise or drinking.

2. Leveling is a bit of a grind but a couple ways you can make it better are with xp multiplier gear like the weighted armors, broken sword, and xp and ego multipliers in the total side of the skill tiers and/or if you want to get a bit more dangerous you can buff enemies in combat with intensify which will increase the xp they give. the commander enemy is particularly lucrative if you keep the fans buffing each other and not the commander both because there are a lot and because they end up giving huge stat buffs, just make sure to kill them before it gets too out of hand.

3. Finally, take a look at your gear. Some weapons are really good, some are really not, some seem good at first but fall off hard, and a few are only good in certain synergies. You can take a look at your weapons' damage in your stat screen. Also make sure to properly allocate stats and essences for your build, you can reset essences at the green dude in town and stats at the plush before the final area.

edit: almost forgot, but npc allies can also make your life easier and I highly recommend setting your size growth multiplier to max for increased range.

I've noticed that for some reason the "Sassy" attitude tends to derp out the eyes, might wanna check that.

Wow, am I a bug magnet or something? Just locked up my game by using parasitic zombie with less than 4 cards to mill.

(1 edit)

I'm guessing you already know this bug since it seems fairly gamebreaking and easy to encounter, but I'll just give my experience. There are several instances where remove and exile are confused in the game. This occurs both on card descriptions and in how the game treats your deck. For example the fire sprite in galactic says it brings back removed cards when it brings back exiled cards, I think Parasitic Succubus does this same confusion too. That brings me to the real problem. For some reason in both my Dark Fairy and Parasitic deck, when I start removing cards I can no longer accurately search cards in the discard deck. I noticed it in my Dark Fairy deck first but just recently when I was trying out Parasitic I noticed the glitch again and then somehow I retrieved a set of wrong cards again using Rapid Recovery except it included a second Card Destruction when I only had one of the card in my deck.

Playing version 7.9 win

Highly recommend either just not fighting Ophelia ever or getting an extremely op deck before bothering with trying. for some ungodly reason she has an exponentially scaling height theft attack and a flat 40 height gain buff. Combined it means fighting her in any kind of long fight without dom/sub height theft just lets her grow and then steal all your height. For some reason Belial curse doesn't work on her though. Some of this may not be accurate if there's changes past ver7.9.

Not sure if you're aware of it already but I found a bug with Valeria fights where she takes on the height drain characteristics of the last person I fought. Once I drained a ton from her with dom/sub and belial curse but then came back to find Sehkmet at severe negative height and Valeria at just her height minus my win bonus. As a side note I'm having trouble figuring out how to win and also Izel is just unkillable because she disappears after my first fight with her of the day and goes on a rampage faster than I can reduce her height.

edit: I should probably clarify that I'm on version 7.9 win
