I'm late to the party, but heres my two cents:

I haven't played a lot of GB games so I'm quite ignorant to the "games that defined the system" or "what games were like on the system". That said, the game is very pretty given the style its going for. The writing is cute but after seeing the first few lines 5 times (I was testing things out), it wore out its welcome. The sound effects were a good touch but 10 minutes after playing, I'd be hard pressed to point any of them out in particular.
Its a gamejam so I knew there were would be a hard time limit to push things out the door but the game is very empty. There aren't many enemies to shoot/dodge and that created moments where I'm just waiting for the next thing to happen. Again. And again. And again. Combined with my previous issue, having a built cheat code was a godsend. By the time I got to the second level I was facetanking hits and healing through it.

Wow, very cool.

But very difficult.

I'm not great at "Enter the Gungeon or Nuclear Throne"-likes, but its REALLY hard to see what going on. And god help anyone who tries to do a melee-only run.

Good writing, good art, bites of wayyyyyyyyy more than it can chew.

I respect the dedication to good art (full color animation?!) but this project is going to take a long time to finish.

Great potential, but movement is extremely slippery and controls aren't tight.

The "air bouncing" or "pogoing" (I don't know what the term is these days) is REALLY hard to pull off. It looks like you tried to make the player "pause" in midair to plan things out but it just doesn't work.

The double(triple?) jump doesn't always come out either. I'm not sure if theres a cooldown and I just didn't notice it?

The dashing feels weird. The map has a lot of low ceiling which makes air dashing over pits feel hard to pull off. To be frank, the dash should probably be removed because the camera is so zoomed in I don't see the ceilings getting higher.

Magic sucks. If you know the bosses moves/timing, you don't need magic. And if you don't know the bosses moves, the "casting time" just gives the bosses a free hit.

Taunting need a MASSIVE buff. I know this is a vore game, but if I'm going to taunt the enemy, gimme something for pulling it off successfully.

I don't know the characters, but everyone other than Lunalyn is a jerk. Lunalyn is the only character who will cannot vore anyone (as of the current build) and that feels oddly disconnected.

You can get stunlocked in the corner.

Give the player attack more range. Its not fun getting super close to the bosses cause you have the dagger but they have a grapple attack.

Make it easier to break free from vore attacks. If you don't immediately break out, its pretty much an instant death.

Voring needs to give MUCH bigger buffs. I did a 'everyone vores everyone' run and I did like 1 extra point of damage from a 'zero vore' run

Nice art.

The music/sound is nice but after the first few loops, it gets tiring. I'll admit it, I turned off the audio by the time I got to the first "hackblock".

The theme is kind of a weird one so *shrug*. Ditto on the narrative.

The gameplay is g though. Its a gamejam so I don't expect the next Call of Duty, but I could see this being blown out into a $3 game.

I know its a game jam so I'm reluctant to say it but, I think the game is broken? I played through the game twice, once with a 'normal start' and again on 'quick start'. I did the "flying through the rings" but then I got to the 'fly through the villains' part just for all the 'villains' to move to the side and fall over.

And then I got booted back to the main menu.

Did... did I win? Or lose? Or crash the game? Like its a game jam, I don't want to knock it points because "winning/losing" sends you back to the main menu.

Haha, what a goofy game. After the first few blocks I hated my setup so I just held the quick drop button until time ran out. As you can see from my score, the yellow blocks started defying gravity and blocks started "locking in" mid-air.

Unseen: My 'structure' collapsed mid-build and the camera freaked out. I couldn't see anything because the camera was 20m higher than where the pieces would spawn, let alone the "foundation"

Wow, I know its a game jam but thats a really hard game. I don't know whats going on under the hood and whatnot, but the attendees come in wayyyy too slowly.

? Was this designed for VR? Its a "behind the player"-camera Arkanoid game right? I cannot for the life of me get the character to line up and knock the ball back.

Great character design though. Love it and the "space suit".

Caveat: I didn't like Sekiro and I'm not a crazy about parrying in the Souls games.

That said: Great concept, but brutally difficult. Game jam I get it, but theres a reason why developers have a "God mode" toggle for QA and journalists. I could see people who love parrying in the Souls games going nuts for this game. I'm just not one of those people.

Feed the prothead

Very cute and fun game. Disappointingly short, but thats game jams for you.

That said, I used to do video game beta testing (QA in modern terms) and the inexperience shows. The "X marks the spot" puzzle? Don't do that. Don't ever do that. If this was a full sized game, the player base would go through the entire game clicking on every "X" in the game thinking its another puzzle. It wouldn't matter if it was a store bought asset, a stretched out texture asset or a generic checkered pattern. You taught the players to check the "X" and thats what they're going to do.

To be fair let me start off by admitting I softlocked the game at the first(?) minigame. So maybe the game becomes the greatest thing since sliced bread and I just didn't see it.

That said: I softlocked the game at the first(?) minigame. I had no idea how to play the minigame so I just clicked until I ran out of moves. Then I starting click on the +# points boxes but then I had negative moves and couldn't get enough points cause I didn't have the right number of icons. Oh and I had to figure the minigame out by guessing soo... I'm not even sure if I played it right...?

As for the writing I didn't vibe with it at all. I know the theme is "BLOCKED" but it felt like the writer went for a "Jerk gets comeuppance"-theme instead.

The art is fine. It has furry characters. My art background is weak so I'm not sure how to describe the visual style. Blank background, yeah. It is part of the art style? I guess so? Again, weak art background.

Audio: I'll admit it. I played the game while a video playing in the background. Did the game have audio? I don't know, if it did I didn't hear it.

Great game. Fairly buggy but free indie game, I get it. The Imp and the King boss fights are more annoying than difficult.  Absolutely need more kobold interactions.

But where Android?

Oof, thats a very overtuned game. The struggle mechanic is a nightmare on the default setting. And yes, I know about the stamina bar.

Jumping is also very confusing. The game's lack of tiles makes its very difficult to tell how far you can jump and whether you can make jumps.

Its not haunted, thats just the landlord.

Which is far worse.

(1 edit)

Good game, but way too difficult. I got to Citadel 2 and called it quits. (I found a save file and watch the cutscenes after that) Got tired of all the kiting and baiting enemies into shooting each other. The severe ammo limits was obviously a design choice but it was the wrong design choice. It completely breaks the game into a shitty puzzle game.

The art and sound/music is fantastic. Not much cup of tea, but I can recognize quality when I see it.

I ended up playing the game across two days and forgot everything(?) between those two days. Something about killing zombies for death in a spaghetti Western setting and... thats it? Maybe there was a godtier story there but I forgot it. I know theres a "Making Of" that probably explains things in depth, but I've always subscribed to the belief that the audience shouldn't have to read the writer's notes to understand the story.

Congratulations!

I saw the game on Steam and recognized the art style.
