Hi everyone,
I’ve been browsing the forums here for a while and noticed something a bit sad but very common with indie games: a lot of multiplayer titles either don’t have official servers anymore or their online services have gone down. In many cases the actual server requirements for those games are tiny, but once the original backend disappears the multiplayer part of the game basically dies.
At the same time, I run a small server setup with machines in both Europe and the US, and most of the time a large portion of the capacity just sits unused. So I thought it might be useful to offer some of that infrastructure for free to indie developers who need basic online services.
Things I might be able to host include:
- Server lists / matchmaking services
- Dedicated game servers
- Account / authentication services
- Small APIs or other lightweight backend services
The resources available are fairly generous, but not unlimited, so I’ll apply reasonable limits per project to keep everything stable. I’m happy to look at most indie projects, but I can’t guarantee that I’ll be able to host every request.
To be clear: this isn’t about collecting data or anything like that. I already maintain these servers for personal projects and experimentation, and I’d rather use the extra capacity to help keep small multiplayer games alive or make it easier for new ones to launch.
If you’re working on a game and need something like this, feel free to send me a DM with a short description of your project and what kind of online services you’re looking for.
If I can help a few indie games stay playable online a bit longer, that’s a win 🙂
