Hi everyone!
I’m happy to share my contribution to the 6th Folclore Rol Jam 2025, themed Folklore Creatures:
The Mystery of the Barley Tower, an adventure for Mausritter inspired by real Spanish folklore.

Set in and around a real place in southern Spain, the Barley Tower near Pinos del Valle, this adventure blends local history with two traditional folkloric creatures:
- The Gailán — a giant cat with a human face that walks on two legs
- The Gurimanta — a mysterious being hidden beneath a white blanket, born from collective memory and legend
The tower, once home to the Order of Malt mice, has fallen into chaos:
a terrifying intruder stalks its heights, rival rats move in from the shadows, and a family of silkworms searches desperately for their missing leader.
What you’ll find
- A complete Mausritter adventure ready to play
- Folklore-inspired creatures, spells, treasures, and encounters
- A print-friendly A4 trifold format (perfect for tables or folders)
- English and Spanish versions included
- Grounded in real local traditions, with the invaluable help of Asociación Cultural Alauxa from Pinos del Valle

This was a joy to make, and I hope it brings a bit of southern Spanish folklore to your table.
If you play it, I’d love to hear how it went!
