This game has amazing vibes. I could definitely see someone who is into cozy idler games become really invested. Or even one of those desktop companion game apps that are getting really popular now. My only gripe is that the upgrading and actual gameplay is not very engaging, BUT thats not really the point that this game is trying to accomplish so not really much of a complaint at all. The upgrades were very straight forward, but once you bought them the values always stayed maxed out so i never really needed to check on them again.

All in all, I really think this has a lot of potential if marketed to the correct crowd! good work!

Like the other commenters, I had no issues at all. It felt a bit more like a "wake up your employees" simulator more than trying to spare their lives from an eldritch cosmic horror simulator.

The idea of appeasing Cthulu with $7 is pretty funny though.

Stare Emojis

As long as you pay by the end of the day, you're clear ;] Debtmaxx away, baby!

I'm really stoked to hear that you had such a great time with it. I was a little worried it would be too complex for some people at first to stick with it. It sounds like people are coming back to play, which makes me feel like I did something right. Thanks so much for coming back and letting me know that!

Wow! Thats awesome! Super stoked you made it that far!

also I was heartbroken when I realized I did not get my training scaling into the final build somehow. at the last minute I changed the way the upgrade costs scale so instead of being multiplicative its additive. Im unsure how that was still in... but thats gamejams for ya!

Also the efficiency upgrades max out early because if I set it any lower than a half second the game breaks and I started to get negative integers for parts made hahaha. It was a really silly bug I could only fix by setting a limit on it.

Unfortunately, if the Whozhit becomes any more efficient he loses his mind completely and breaks everything

(Im curious if you figured out how to go into debt or not. Theres a lot for really neat strategies you can pull of that way. Lemme know!)

I really love idlers and this one has a really nice idea with wiggling the mouse instead of clicking.

I'm not sure I agree that it fits the theme of the jam, but as a standalone game it is very fun and I could definitely see myself playing a game like this outside of the jam.

Some improvements to the UI and the ability to toggle off or decrease the warping would be nice too. All in all, really cool concept and I hope you continue to improve on it

Great job on the game! sorry I'm too stupid to play it.

(I have some video for ya if ya want it)

as a man about to leave his 20's the final level really made me think about my life and what kind of legacy I want to leave behind.

I mean, what is there to say? This game rules and it's the best 3 minutes I've spent gaming during the jam. Super fun, super engaging, and really wacky.

I recorded my gameplay and if you wanna see me contemplate the meaning of life while tugging on a mans face please reach out on discord!

Rip Bozo, hes stupid and huge

Peak-o

I really enjoyed Piko! I totally get why people are talking about it. The way that piko becomes more sluggish to control as you make him bigger is really fun and frustrating in a way that is fun and engaging. I cant tell you how many times I yelled PIKOOO at my screen when he did something like roll past a button or fall into a pit because I was too big. Really fun and funny stuff.

I recorded my gameplay and first impressions for you! If you'd like to see it, please reach out on the fireside discord and I'll get you a link. I yell Piko a lot and I have some in the moment feedback for ya. Thanks for making this!

I love the look of the game the most for sure! the designs and color palette really helps this game stand apart from the others.

The combat could have benefitted a lot from a tutorial as I felt like I couldn't really get a grasp on what I was supposed to be doing or how to make the shooting more reliable. I recorded my first impressions and initial gameplay for you, so I'll keep my comment brief.

All in all, I think it has a lot of potential, but I found the combat to be a bit cumbersome.

I made it to the second day, but not quite to the ending.

I really love the visual style of the game and the atmosphere of the music. It evokes a real nice balance of uneasiness and the coziness of the autumn setting. Your color choices were very nice and I think this is one of the most pleasing games to look at in the jam so far.

I had some gameplay issues. I died many times due to being locked into the eating animations and my thirst meter draining quickly. I think that slowing the rate of hunger and thirst would dramatically improve my experience and make me more willing to explore the map. I ended up doing a few runs just to walk around the map without worrying about food or water just so I could get a proper layout of the map. I called those my sacrifice runs, which I don't believe was your intention for a player to do. Also I died due to picking up the key and being soft-locked out of being able to eat or drink for the rest of the session. I never figured out how to put the key down or find an object to use it on.

I actually didn't mind too much not having camera controls, but I do think it would be worthwhile for a bigger release of this game. I could definitely see this game becoming a much larger project and being a very fun release for you. Really cool stuff! It felt a lot like a prototype for a much larger game about surviving the woods as an injured mouse. I would be really curious to see what a bigger release of this game would look like.

Lemme know your high score when you do!

Piko in the Whutzhit factory when?

(1 edit)

Thanks so much! I'm hoping the Whutzhit factory has what it takes to come out swinging on my first jam. Its not a competition, but earning some marks on it would be really cool. I really appreciate you saying that!

There actually is not a training for making your whozhit move any faster.

The efficiency training cuts the production time for making parts by a half second, capping at .5 second for production of parts. It is intentional that his energy depleted faster after upgrading, because he is working faster as a result. Youll need to keep a closer eye on his health and energy or else he'll collapse or jump in the uhoh hole.

Both energy trainings (fitness and workplace) allow your whozhit to raise their maximum energy capacity, which allows them work for longer before needing to rest which is essential for later game working (and preventing death) after you have leveled up the quality training and youre in need of more parts to make whutzits that sell for more money.

These are definitely mechanics that aren't really gonna get shown off except for people that REALLY stick with the game for a few runs, which probably isnt the best idea for a game jam, but my goal was to make a game that people could continually get better at and I think the scaling has been pretty dialed in. I hope that helps clear up any confusions!

My highscore is around 32 days now haha.

I'm happy to have triggered your PTSD in a fun and interactive way :]

Day 9? sounds like skill issue to me B]

Yeah, employee onboarding is usually important when starting a new job haha

Glad you had fun with it! what was your highest day reached?

Hey! Used your asset pack for my first game jam! I had a blast working with your art and making new sprites using him as a base. Just thought you might wanna see it in action!

I love this! This is super fun and a really cool puzzle management game!

I recorded my first impressions and gameplay. If you'd like to take a look at it for a more in depth review and in the moment feedback, please reach out to me on the fireside discord server! This game gets big marks from me! I made it level 17 before I started having to really think about my ring economy and and the order of events, which is really super cool! I had a blast with this game, I hope you're proud of what you made.

WOW! What a fun game! This is 100% right up my alley! It's almost like you made it just for me to play haha!

I recorded my first impressions and gameplay if you wanna have a more in depth review and feedback. But man... this gets VERY high praise from me! Please reach out to me on the fireside discord server if you'd like to see my recorded gameplay! Fantastic game! Easily in my top 5 for certain.

EDIT: I've gone back and played this game a few times and I just think it rules. My best score is 26 levels (so far) and I have so many cool ideas for what this could eventually turn into if it became a bigger project. Really loving this game!

Really neat idea! I'm a huge sucker for fantasy wizards killing demons and floating eyeballs, so I was stoked when I saw this in submissions!

There are definitely some hiccups in gameplay, but this feels like a really solid start to much bigger project if I'm being honest. I got huge single player arena shooter vibes from this. I recorded my first reactions and gameplay for this jam, so if you're looking for more in the moment gameplay feedback reach out to me in the fireside discord! really cool project! I think it has a lot of potential for something cool! Great submission!

I must have completely missed that. my b!

This game looks unbelievably polished. Clearly a lot of love went into this game, so kudos for putting out a quality jam game! The typing sounds are a really nice touch, but I do think having a set of negative bad sounds for when you make a mistake would be that extra cherry on top for a game like this.

I am very bad at typing, but for someone who takes a lot of pride in their WPM, this would be a banger for them. (I didn't even make it past the first level lmao)

There are definitely some cool concepts going on in this game. I like the map aspect and being able to tell the bunnies where to go. I also like the song of the century haha. Also lighthouses are always cool.

There are some very unclear aspects of the game though. I did not know that you could click on the map, so when my first few bunnies came to me I game-overed because I thought the map was just wall decoration. The game does become less of a management game and more of a memory game because it's quicker to just memorize the map than it is to take it out every time someone wants to go somewhere. Also completely unsure what the lightning bug in the jar does. I don't know what makes the sprite change or if its interactable at all.

Cool concept! Needs a bit different of an execution, but for sure a step in a very cool and fun direction!

I think maybe my mouse DPI settings do not like this game because my camera was whipping around faster than an esports pro league. Unsure how to address that, but overall I think the chaotic nature of managing a room full of children is extremely on theme! What I did get to play was a cute and funny experience. I really like the fighting animations haha

Noodl... did your Whozhit jump in the Uhoh hole?

yeah, I was gonna add that in... but I guess I forgot, whoops!

Thanks for all the support! Youve been a huge hype-man for me during the jam! It has not gone unnoticed :]

The original idea was to make each station a different color, but it looked really ugly and bad haha! I figured it didn't matter too much because the Whozhit takes care of all the work for you.

I think I definitely wanted things to be a little chaotic and confusing at first, but as you get more familiar with the stations and trainings you become more confident as a manger and provide more profits to the shareholders (and keep your Whozhit alive longer). I really appreciate the feedback!

EXCUSE ME!! I'D LIKE TO SPEAK TO THE DEVELOPER OF THIS GAME!

What a cute and fun little game!

I really had a blast throwing out unruly Karens and actually helping people that needed it. The designs of the aliens are really fun and I think adds a lot to the experience. If it was just normal Karens I don't think the game would be as fun, tbh. Parasol really did a great job putting it all together.

There were a few moments where I felt I was justified in throwing someone out that the game didn't seem to agree with, but once I got the patterns down I really felt like I was becoming more confident in my ability to MANAGE this space store. At one point I had 100% customer and employee satisfaction, which felt pretty sweet.

My only feedback I'd give is that I wish the game were harder! But I don't really think that's what the game is going for, so it's really more of a personal preference. Great Job!

lmaooo, well I say it gave the game an eerie and dark vibe. (its not a bug, its a feature!)

Hello, other one man game.

Cool stuff! I had a fun time playing this one! It gave me huge newgrounds / armorgames throwback vibes. I would have had a blast playing this when I was 13 (and still had fun with it today)

There are some aspects of the game that I wish were a little more clear and I think throwing boxes at the ghost should delete them, but that's really personal preference. I also wish the warehouse got cleaned up when you end up losing because I ended up with soooo many boxes on the warehouse floor by the end of my 4th run haha.

Pretty fun! I liked getting lost in the maze and searching for the next snowflakes and keys.

Although I did feel like once I learned the layouts of the maps I could just B-line it for where I knew I needed to go next. Some sort of procedural generation for the levels would have taken this game to the next level (heh) for me. Also you have music in your credits, but I couldn't hear any in the game. Unsure if that's a bug or not.

Very cute! I think making games with your kids is very sweet and wholesome haha.

I really loved the narration at the start of the game and the meows performed by your daughters. It was a very nice and fun time.

Super fun game! I had a little bit of frustration with the controls, but that's definitely user error. Really cool concept and I could even see this being turned into a really fun mobile game. I think touch controls would be really intuitive for this kind of game.

The game really shines in it's art style and randomized levels. The landmines blowing up chunks of the environment is such a fun idea and really makes it feel like each run is new and exciting with different obstacles you'll need to account for.

Also the music kicks ass ;)

Perfect 5/5 for me! I knew this one was gonna be a banger when the previews before submissions. really good work!

Absolutely INSANE that this got done during the jam!

One of my top picks for sure. What a fun and chaotic experience. Maybe one day I can help him afford everything he wants.

The music, the art, and the polish this game has is nuts. Really good job!

Accidently forgot it was scrolling and just did the mines on the bottom of the screen. Oops. 10/10 minesweeper experience. I love that they break the first block for you! Nothing worse than a click one ending

Gotcha, that's how I've been doing it, but it is incredibly tedious haha. I haven't seen this video, so hopefully it will tech me some new tips and ideas that I can start using.

Btw, I'll have a project for you to see using your sprite sheet in a little bit. Its been very nice to use. Thanks so much for your replies! You've been very helpful
