Thanks for the kind words and feedback!

That's not quite what I was talking about with my earlier comment.  However! I think I like what you're talking about here more. Adding in autonomous workers could be very interesting. I'll let it percolate and see what I can come up with.

Thanks again.

You can place it - rotate it so that it's vertical and place it at the bottom of the middle column.

The idea was to teach you that you can place tetronimoes over the lava blocks.

I can do a few things to make that clearer though:
1. Add a hint that pops up
2. Make the hint color on the blocks even clearer when you're in a valid or invalid spot (the color is a bit subtle atm).

Thanks for taking the time to give it a go - sorry you got stuck / the tutorial wasn't clearer.

I'll have a think about the direction of enemies.

Glad you enjoyed it! And yeah hexagons are the bestagons (and give extra edges to branch from) - although I am aware it's a little funny using them when the main game is grid based.

Awesome little game

Ok, thanks, that's very helpful. I'll let you know once I've resolved that issue.

Thanks for the feedback. Can I ask what browser you're using?

Just pushed the next update. There's a dev log with a brief summary of the changes as well.

Thanks! :)

Thanks for checking it out, and your kind words. Next update will be in a couple of days.

Thanks for the kind words!

I know what is causing the performance issues. Will try and get a fix out in the next few days.

Beautiful game. My feedback:

  • As others have pointed out the auto clicker is annoying. E.g. when the level starts I'll often use up one of my attacks on a resource I didnt intend to mine just because that's where the cursor started.
  • If you move away from the auto clicker it'll mean that players can also make more "clever" use of their attacks. E.g. at the moment I can't attack something that's: resource gap resource since the auto clicker wont fire when the cursor is over the gap. If it's click and hold then I can suddenly attack both those resources at the same time.
  • I don't mind the lofi music (saw another comment about it)
  • Not sure if you've seen the idle cub youtube video, but I agree with his complaint about when you finish mining just as you run out of stamina then you don't get the resource you just finished. Possibly add a special case for this? If I haven't picked up something I mined earlier then that's on me. It's just that last resource that feels mean not to get.
  • It somehow feels like the run ends almost before my stamina runs out. It might be to do with how you're showing it going down.

Anyway, great work - I think it's really close. Wishlisted.

Wow, that's awesome!

Sorry about the performance issues. I think there are a couple of quick fixes I can have a go at adding.

Do you have any thoughts on where I should take the game next?

I had been thinking about getting rid of the loop, and making it so you control a little dude who does the digging with the enemies chasing him. However that would make it harder to create mazes like this...

Thanks for the feedback. It does seem like there might be interest. Just working on how to flesh it out.

Some thoughts about making the digging a bit more interesting:
1. Add different types of rocks. As you move further away from the center they get harder.
2. Should the player be able to see the entire grid, or just a number of squares away from where they have already dug?

Thanks for checking it out, and your kind words!

Those are good suggestions, but even with those I'm not sure it's enough for a full game? Maybe I'm overthinking it though.

I would say I'm not actively developing it *at the moment*. I'm going to keep tinkering away on it as I come up with things to add to it though.

I'll take a look at doing that - will reply again if I get it working.

Very fun.  The leaderboard is a nice touch. Thought I was done with the game then saw that my time was 52nd....

Love the art style and sfx, especially the bit between levels. Well done!

Super fun, but I got stuck :(

Nicely done. Doing the loop and moving the guy at the same time is hard! Got to 15 kills.

Wow. I think this might be my favorite game of the jam that I've played. Well done!

Really nice. Not being able to control the robot in the underworld adds some nice strategic depth - you need to be careful about where your path ends up! Took me 15 loops to defeat the first level.

Really well done. I was going to say the only downside was that it can get a bit cluttered. But looking at your screenshots that might be a me problem! Maybe I didn't need to place all the towers as close to the loop as possible :)

Nice work. Great art style and addictive game play.

Thanks for that!

Thanks for the feedback, and I agree with the onboarding. As a temporary fix I've added a pause button, so you actually have time to read the instructions - I'd like to properly improve the onboarding but there's not enough time.

There's an upgrade you can get which gives you more starting money which helps there. Having a chance of getting gold from destroying blocks is an interesting idea - I'll have a think about it.

That's embarrassing! Thanks for taking the time to point that out, especially since it's before the end of the game jam! Just put a fix out.
