Hi folks!
I'm a writer/narrative designer, currently working on Lost In The Open, a low-fantasy rogue-like. We are to enter Early Access at the end of the week, where our development schedule will be scaled back slightly, and I will have more time to dedicate to other projects.
To introduce myself, I consider a versatile writer, with a penchant for surreal, conceptual, and fantastical themes; think VanderMeer, Miéville, Le Guin. I began my career in theatre, primarily in script consultancy-esque roles, before pivoting my career mid-last '24, inspired by the fantastic interactive storytelling of games like Disco Elysium and Pathologic. I like to think the breadth of my ability is wide, I can write economically or richly, I've written endless prose, dialogue, copy, and script, I'm comfortable worldbuilding, lore-writing, and character-bible'ing. In addition to Lost In The Open, I also volunteer as a narrative designer for the Path to Menzoberranzan BG3 campaign mod.
I am very happy to share samples to those who are interested in working with me, but will omit them from this post for the sake of privacy. As I have been working in this role in a professional-capacity for almost a year now, I am primarily seeking out paid opportunities. I am open to revenue-share/equity projects, but that will largely depend on the project itself. Regardless, I am happy to talk about any project you think I may be a good fit for. I welcome anyone who wishes to read my samples, share a project with me, or have a chat, to send me an invite on Discord @ y2kmarc.
Thanks for reading,
Marc.
Hi all.
I'm a London based writer, and work primarily in the theatre world doing script consultancy/dramaturgical work for the most part.
For a while, I've been playing with the idea of a career change, pivoting to narrative design and game writing. I'm looking for comitted, ideally narratively driven projects, to build up a professional portfolio for myself. I've thankfully had the opportunity to work on a few smaller projects prior to this, and have collated a selection of samples, alongside some personal work, in a portfolio you can access here.
I recommend reading these pieces in the print layout to avoid any formatting hijinks.
I like to consider my work verging surreal/experimental, but still largely grounded. Some big personal inspirations are Disco Elysium, Kentucky Route Zero, and Death Stranding.
While I am primarily looking for paid opportunities, I am happy to take on casual work if we're a good fit.
Cheers
