Hey king, this is the point where the first animated scene loads. Animation is a constant uphill battle in this project. I want to have high resolution scenes animated via renpy which comes with some difficulties. I am in the process of reworking the system and it should be less resource draining in the future. If the game crashes before animations, this likely is a hardware issue (hardware can't handle the messy code). Can you tell me what system you are runing the game on?

The Red Approach 0.06b is live with all new animated sprites.

But the work never stops.
The next content update is already nearing it's completion.
This threat will be the official development threat from here on out - updated regulary.

He is coming.

Pushed into the earth—blood and bone.
A thousand rivers sprang from him.
A thousand mouths have drunk from him.
Now the broken yearn for him,
Waiting - for The Red Approach.
Another comparison — this time Ivy (who has finally entered the desired "shawty" category and left the "dwarf" classification 😐):

In another three years I'll probably hate the new sprites too 😅, but hopefully the game will be finished by then, and it'll make more sense to do another quality upgrade at that point.
Hey Zany,
thank you so much for the feedback. Yeah it does sound odd when you say it like that :D. Glad it's your jam.
I belive you are talking about Dark Mantras from BaoshunMusic sadly the profile only has 4 songs on it ;(.
enjoy!

Heya friends,
for you enjoyment, as well as for an opportunity for some feedback on my end:
Been developing semi animated sprites for my VN "The Red Approach". Originally I was shooting for fully animated sprites, but integration into renpy limits there use in some very unfrotunate ways.
anyways here's a litte peak of what I got:
first the old version for Mirell (2023ish):

and now for the newer version (animated in game - downscaled to post as a gif here - file size too big at full res):

What do you guys think?
Do these simplified talking/blinking animations do something for you? Or do you not pay taht much attention to sprites?
Any feedback welcome.
Thanks in advance,
Thank you very much for the feedback!
I sometimes wonder what to prioritize or what perspective to analyse progress from. In the beginning I was hoping to receive more feedback from people supporting/playing the game. Now I understand that this will probably take quite a while for it to happen. So I would like to pull more people in faster to get there while at the same time wanting to focused more on quality..
But trying to strike a balance is probably the way to go 😮💨😅
Hey guys,
looking for some general feedback here.
Been working on a Vn since about 2 years and I'm still trying to figure out how to efficently manage my time.
I notice that it oftentimes get lost in the details and feel the need to update older parts/illustrations/animations in the game. Do you recon it's important to keep the quality high, especially in the beginning to hook people, or would you focus entierly on content/progression?
For example, just updated this older illustration in about 2-3 hours. Is that time well spent? 😅

(game is "The Red Approach" by Revvo -me, if you are interested)
Thanks in advance for your feedback!
