Hello everyone!

I am the solo developer behind KARST: Speed the Void, a high-stakes, asymmetric multiplayer speedrun game built entirely on a custom web engine (HTML5 Canvas / Node.js / Supabase).

The game is already well advanced, fully playable at a stable 60 FPS, and features a completely functional custom level editor. I am now looking for a talented artist (Pixel Art) to join the adventure, revamp the UI, and design our first handcrafted environments and boss encounters.

The long-term goal is a commercial release on Steam (packaged via Electron).

🛑 CURRENT PROJECT STATUS (Evidence of Effort) Unlike many concept-stage projects, KARST is technically robust and rapidly iterating.

  • Core loop is fully coded: Agile keyboard explorers must cooperate with a webcam-controlled “Guardian”.
  • Advanced Web-AR integration: The Guardian uses real-time hand-tracking technology directly in the browser to interact with the world by closing their fist, pointing, etc.
  • No friction: No accounts needed, players jump straight into gameplay from a simple private playtest link.

🎨 WHAT I NEED FROM YOU I need an artist to co-create the final visual identity of the game, focusing on:

  1. Environment Tilesets: A cohesive set of blocks for our deep caves (floors, walls, hazards).
  2. Signature Sprites: Key frame animations for the explorer character and a major upcoming encounter.
  3. UI Elements: Streamlined, glowing neon interfaces and avatars that match our current aesthetic.

💰 COMPENSATION & FUTURE

  • Type of work: Collaboration / Hobby with a strong focus on Portfolio Boosting or Revenue Share (RevShare) for the Steam release.
  • Paid aspect: I am willing to offer a micro-budget / milestone-based payments (Paid) for key signature assets (like the main character sprites and the boss) to ensure fair compensation for your initial time.

Quick update! I’ve just uploaded a few gameplay GIFs so you can get a sneak peek of the mechanics and the overall vibe in action. I’m currently pushing hard on the polishing phase to make everything feel pixel-perfect. My goal with this is to design something you’ve literally never seen before in an AR/webcam game.
