Hi all — I'm the developer behind The Last Shift, a small top-down horror game I released here last month. I've now put the game's full source up as a starter kit for anyone who wants to make their own.

It's one self-contained HTML file: the movement, the flashlight and battery system, the stalker that freezes when your light is on it, the task list, the sounds, all of it — commented so you can pull it apart and rebuild it into your own game. The free game is still up if you want to play what the kit makes before thinking about the code.

Happy to answer questions about how any part of it works.

Thank you! Ha — I'll take that comparison, it's in good company. Just shipped a small polish update (clearer close-look, more control options) if you fancy another round. 🎃

Thanks! The controls were the first thing I fixed — it now also takes 1/2/3 and the arrow keys (left = treat, right = trick, up = peek) alongside Q/E/F, and the buttons show both. Hope it feels less weird now!

Thanks for playing! Fair note on the art — just pushed a polish pass: the close-look now backlights each visitor so they separate from the dark, and the door-glass flicker reads clearer. Hope the tells land better now. 🎃

Hi! Quick question about the submission requirements. The jam rules under 'Existing Games & Assets' say existing projects are welcome, but the submission dialog enforces 'Created after the jam started' — my project The Last Shift (published Sept 25) can't be submitted because the Submit button stays disabled. Is the written rule or the platform setting the intended one? Thanks!
