Thank you, that made my day! "Fantastic Voyage meets Dungeon Keeper" is a better pitch than anything I've written. A trip through the body where you're the bad guy is exactly it.

No rush on playing it, and "constructive" is what I'm hoping for. When you do, the most useful things to hear are where you got stuck and the moment you stopped playing. Even one line helps.

One tip for the first run: as the bare virus you can't shoot, so touch a cell quickly.

Dev here. Happy to answer anything about how it was made, and if you try the demo I'd love to hear where you got stuck or when you stopped playing. Thanks for taking a look!

Hi everyone! I'm a solo dev and this is the first game I've ever put out. It's a free demo and I'd really love to hear what you think.

Obligate is a twin-stick roguelite where you play a virus with no body of its own, so you steal one. Touch a cell and it's yours, its shape, its weapon, its ability. Ride it until it fails, burst out in a swarm, and grab the next one before your time runs out. There are no character picks. The cell you're wearing is your class.

Host cells are free to take. Immune cells you have to wear down first: shoot one until it glows, jump out of your body, and touch it. For a second you're nothing at all, and then you're the thing that was hunting you, with its gun in your hands.

The demo is one full organ, different every run, from the body map to the boss in the lymph node. Three ways in, six cells to wear, eighteen genes, three viruses, and upgrades between runs so a lost run still counts. A run takes about ten minutes. Windows, about 50 MB, controller works.

What I'd most like to know: where you got stuck, what you didn't understand, and the moment you stopped playing. There's a Report a bug button in the pause menu too, and I read everything.

Made in Godot by one person "me". All the visuals are drawn by the game's own code. The sound was generated with ElevenLabs and mixed by me, and I used an AI coding assistant for the code. The full note is on the game's page.
