Great - that all makes total sense, cheers Cody!

Thanks for your response! Are we both talking about missions? (You made several references to Contracts in your response, and those are a different thing right?)

For missions, you roll for a location type. For example, you might roll 'Wastes' and then presumably your have to complete your mission by heading for a 'Wastes' location at the appropriate distance. My question was what if there are literally no location types beyond settlements currently represented on the map (i.e. you haven't left your starting settlement yet).

Apologies if I have misunderstood something! If that's the case - don't worry about it - no doubt I'll realise where I'm going wrong

Hi Cody, a few questions about missions, if you don't mind clarifying some stuff :)

When rolling for location type, I guess the type that you roll dicates where you go in order to complete that mission. Do I have to identify an existing location on the map (that fullfills the distance requirement as well) to mark as the 'target' for the mission?

If so, what do I do if I'm trying to create a mission in the first settlement before I've even started exploring? In this situation, there are no locations on the map yet (except Settlements).

No problem, easily done! Hope you're enjoying the game!

Hi there, you have to roll equal to OR greater than the TN in order to pass. Here's an excerpt from the 'Facing a challenge' section of the rules:

To pass a test, you will have to roll equal to or greater than a target number (TN) on a D20, having added on a given trait.

Thanks Cody, your playtesting input was invaluable, not only in getting NYZ into a fit state for public consumption, but also in giving me ideas for a future expanded version! As you say, Escape The Zone clearly shows how this can be done and the amount of material I was forced to leave out of NYZ clearly shows me it would be worth putting together!

Glad you enjoyed it! Challenging is the word :D

Thanks for the kind words - I hope you manage to get out of New York alive!

Thanks! I'm disproportionately proud of it :D

These are superb! I'm making a game at the moment and will be using one of these - really appreciate you putting these together - I wouldn't have a clue how to make them myself!

Nice doodling!

Perfect, thanks! Almost added it on to my pledge, but had a flurry of game purchases this month and decided I had to draw the line ;)

Congrats on the new version! Quick question - will this be making its way to drivethrurpg for pod?

Oh awesome - I've seen this a bit on his yt channel - looks great and very cool to hear that you're publishing it. I take it that means that it'll be readily available somewhere in the UK - Iglootree (spotted their bookmark in with Eco Mofos)?

PS Chaoclypse is in the process of creating a self-contained solo rpg. Maybe you should get on at him about putting that out at some point too ;)

Ah cool - thanks for responding! I'm a fan of Chaocalypse and wanted to make sure I had everything he had put together for the game - glad its in the book. I'll keep an eye out for the fancy supplement though!

Just got my new book - stunning!

Quick question - is the Solo Mofos supplement going to be made available here at some point? I'm keen to check it out (and potentially use it on my yt channel, Lone Adventurer).

You're welcome - thanks for responding to my queries!

Hey there, just started playing my first game and I enjoying it so far! Brutal game though :)

I've a couple of observations.

1. On the occupants table at the top of p.7, there are two options for strangers (on a roll of 1 and a roll of 4-6). My suspicion is that a roll of 4-6 is intended to trigger an encounter with an enemy, rather than a stranger.

2. Should the starting location be randomised on a roll of D4? I ask because I assumed that you would always start at location 1, but then location 2 says 'if this was your starting location' so I guess you could start there as well?

3. In the scavenging section, it says 'Unoccupied rooms may be scavenged without making a test.' What test is necessary if a room is occupied?

Looks pretty sweet! Boring question - but what are the chances of a low-ink version? Just losing the dark backgrounds would be nice...

Hello! Glad you found the game challenging AND relaxing - kind of what I was aiming for :)

That's not a silly question, but its certainly something I didn't consider. I would say you can serve the same customer multiple times, either over separate days or in the same day. Otherwise, it's just another thing to think about!

Woop woop! Downloaded and added to my collection of Glide expansions I haven't yet used (but I'll get to it....oh yes)!

Obviously I'm quite biased and so would say a Sandworm full version, though I am curious about what a new Exclusion Zone adventure would look like!

Thanks for commenting! Hope you enjoy using the locations!

Ah ha - you were right! I hadn't been to the graveyard (didn't spot that path going north from the screen with the standing stones). Once I went to the graveyard, the sequence with Witt kicked in. Thanks and sorry for casting doubt on your game :)

Really enjoyed what I've seen so far. Unfortunately, the game had a bug for me quite quickly after starting. According to the walkthrough, if I talk to Drissa in the area to the right of the camp, when she leaves, Witt should appear. For me, unfortunately, he did not.

Looking good! This is an impressive amount of material for one month's work. You must be having some late nights ;)

Looks great! Found thanks to Gila RPGs on Youtube!
