OHH WAIT
So basically you mean that the compression should be on a separate input and drums and percussion shouldn't be compressed and only side chained on master and the rest can be compressed as much as I want? Also about limiting and compression, that's really some new info. I've had an idea that compression amplifies the volume to a certain point, but not how it deals with limiting it.

now THAT is some unique submission. I like how there's primarily only piano, like it's playing to accompany some old silent movie. I imagine that the game would also be in black and white and with some tape distortion effects on the screen and it would be some 3d platformer/puzzle. Overall sounds really good and the composition is just great, conveys those old movie vibes.
AMAZING. Throughout the whole soundtrack the circus vibe is present, but tracks vary very much, complimenting their meaning. Percussion is outright peak. Also ENA vibes throughout the whole soundtrack. The submission page is the best out of everything I've seen on the jam. My favorite would probably be Tricks, Facade or Your Happy Ending, both are peak in their respective ways.
The soundtrack sounds quite unique and comforting to listen to, but there are a few things I'd want to point out. Despite being a little monotone, it indeed would fit as background music for some calm game, but here's the second question and it's that while it's a really cool concept that you left those life-altering news she received untold, there's barely any info on what type of the game it would be, what would she even be doing gameplay-wise in the levels and all that. In other things it's pretty much flawless, except you could try to play with velocities more next time. And did you divide the frequencies? The quality is ok and it might be just me but it felt like the frequencies interfere with each other
that's a very good soundtrack that would fit for such a concept as a platformer. I also think it would fit for some puzzles (mb those could be included in the platformer you imagined, like some parts where you need to solve a puzzle to get somewhere, especially I have these vibes in lana's place, though I have a concern about high frequencies here being too sensible. Not really a terrible thing, I was doing the same mistake a lot a few months ago and I'm still doing it occasionally). My favorite would be either escape into the night or it doesn't end like this, it's just such an ear candy for me and I'm lowkey a sucker for breakcore. Overall definitely peak.
thanks for so much detail in your criticism! Yeah my whole mastering was just frequency division and maximus compressors with different presets on some inserts and master. I'll try to also play around with gain in chorus parts as you recommended in later tracks, I just wish I'd be able to figure everything out with that thing. Also about text, I'll definitely make it more compact tomorrow, but rn I'm just falling asleep as I type so gn and thanks again!!
P.S. about compressing or limiting too much, I don't think that's the case in my recent tracks anymore since without limiter and compressor they still almost don't reach the 0dB limit throughout the track.
was doing my stuff with this playing in bg, and it just fits really good. Great quality ambient music and it somewhat lets me make a picture in my head, but with no clear story whatsoever it doesn't help much. But I think they would fit perfectly in a visual novel, idk, just gives me those vibes
Also the uneven rhythm in these is very satisfying in a strange way
Damn the idea of the story is GREAT, reminds me a bit of Slay the Princess, though takes a way different approach. Even though the story is abstract and there's not much about it, the tracks represent the events very clearly, music speaks instead of words. My favorite is probably Eternal Sunset for its vibes.
this deserves way more rates than it has. It's an absolute peak, not only the soundtrack actually feels like it's from a game and not some separate music pieces, but it fits the story really well. I liked the majestic feels with light sorrow in the 6th and 7th tracks the most. Also I think the pirate fight could sound more majestic and decisive too, since it's such an important moment for the woman.
the vibes of this soundtrack are quite unique and groovy in their way. The whole composition is just done professionally imo, it all sounds great. My favorite would probably be "Guilty?", because it succeeds really well at representing the atmosphere of unease and suspense, which shows both Melinda's feelings and the thoughts of others suspecting her.
quite a warm sounding and a calm soundtrack! though, one thing I could say is that the main leitmotiff is repeated to much so it becomes the whole melody and it becomes a bit monotone. Also in Whiskers Before the Storm I think there could be more tension since we approach the final fight of the game, but it sounds just like a different variation of the first track so yeah. The quality itself is good though
ok that's probably a winner for me. It's so unique and absolutely peak, the way songs transition between each other and the absolutely lovely synths and great work with panning hasn't been done by anybody I've heard so far but you. My favorite so far is probably Gaia and Thunder, with those two I could clearly see the picture of what was happening in my head without even trying to do so.
thank you man! Yeah I prefer sticking to this synthy intense mood with B.F.T.T. bc of the sci-fi setting and the dark and tragic mood of the whole story in general. As for Overcharge, it's meant to be one of if not the most intense track in the whole game (4 acts in total) not only bc one of the strongest god-like characters in the story was going nearly full out, but bc I wanted to fully show M-47's desperate struggle for his newly obtained life, the soul he just realized he has that is about to get ripped away from him
