There is a steam game that was entirely based on collecting deep space signals like this, but VotV has more fun with the horror and world as far as I can tell. From looking at the other games reviews, it also appears that game was abandoned.

Could do something like Dead Space 3, where some scares are player exclusive. Like Player 2 may have some scares that Player 1 will never see.
