Wow this is just all around awesome! Art, sound, style, just wow...
I did think there was a little too much frame stop on each enemy hit. Made the game feel a little laggy (or maybe it was lag). Still a wonderful game
Really loved the art style and the music! I also liked the creative ways you can die! The only things I would add is player feedback for what's happening. Maybe a simple transition between rooms, and some kind of sound or other indicator when you die. I also would've liked to have an option to go back to the previous room. That would've made me feel a little more like I was exploring and not just clicking between 2 options. Overall great jam game though!
Deadline hit me hard too, couldn't polish much on my game either. The pulse wasn't the confusing part, I like that mechanic. I just couldn't figure out what distinguished the contents of each crate. I noticed there were different effects and symbols (I think?) But it was just too fast paced for me to figure out the pattern during gameplay. I didn't even notice the text you just mentioned lol. Maybe it's just a skill issue though...
I was initially a little frustrated that the puzzles were so easy to soft lock if you move a square into the wrong space, but I later found it actually made me think really carefully about my movements. Once I got more branches, it also wasn't as frustrating since I could just go to another door. Overall fun game! I found it addictive to get the upgrades and see how fast I could move through the map. I liked your 1-bit palette and the atmosphere as well!
Just played it on the Windows build and it ran totally fine. First off, the art is super sweet. I got an error though. It wouldn't let me analyze the second sector in the tutorial, then I went back to the file system, analyzed the file that was previously there, once it finished, I crashed. See error in code embed below:

I liked the direction you guys took the theme. I did find the platforming a little clunky, though. The character gained speed on landing, making it awkward to move between platforms. I also noticed that if you try to move through a doorway right after landing, the character wouldn't fit through.
Also, huge props for making this in your own engine!
That's fair. I wanted to create a narrative leading up to a boss at the end which would've been "what's hiding in there", but I wasn't able to put enough time in for that. At this point I would just say you're hunting these monsters which are "hiding" in the cave.
Thank you for taking the time to play :)
Nice game! I do think you would've benefitted more from focusing on the racing, rather than the other mini games, but I liked the idea of doing tasks to calm yourself before the race. It added more emotion to the character.
Although the driving physics and mechanics weren't super polished, I actually liked how it felt bouncing off the edges of the berm, and slipping a little while cornering. I found myself replaying the race a couple of times to see how fast I could go (61.45).
The perspective on the trees was a great touch to make it feel like you're a creature crawling through the forest. The gameplay felt really nice, especially the ability to grab enemies and shake them with the mouse.
The only thing I would complain about is that I couldn't use the escape tunnels after finishing the preparation phase, so I ended up just sitting there for about a minute. Also, sometimes enemies would get stuck in the corner of the room, or on each other.
I see a ton of potential here if you decide to keep working on the game. Maybe adding a sneak mechanic, where enemies will lose sight of you and stop following you through walls.
Overall really great game jam game!
