I am using MacOS to upload my game so I don't think this has anything to do with my issue. Also, it wouldn't explain why it is working when embedded inside itch and not inside my website. Also, I'm doing the zipping using custom export code I wrote, not using any external program. I checked and it is using regular slashes.

I am using ZSTD for compression and the zip format. I will try tar, it might help indeed.

Also, if somebody managed to make it work, I'd love to see a link to an external (non-itch) website which has an iframe with an itch game embedded inside, I've never seen any online.

I am trying to embed my game on my blog (which has https if that matters).

I went to the Distribute > Embed game section, copied the iframe code and pasted it into my page.

When the page loads, I get a 403 Forbidden error (both on localhost and when my game is published). I tried both on Chrome and on Firefox. My game does not use shared array buffers.

I believe this is because itch.io is incorrectly sending a "strict-origin-when-cross-origin" header, but I might be doing something wrong.

The itch.io widget works without any issues.

This is the code I am trying to embed (which works fine on itch.io urls):

You've used cool 3d assets, it's sad that they are only visible from the top as they are hard to distinguish from one another. Maybe you could add a way to rotate the camera?

Yup (I'm a programmer)

Hello! I'm a programmer and I'm looking for an artist / a team.

I mainly have experience with Godot and custom game engines! You can contact me on discord at vanyle.

A few games I made: https://vanyle0.itch.io

I cannot understand why this is not more popular, very cool game! It would be nice to be able to destroy turrets to replace them with the better version.

Also, the fast ennemies are impossible to hit! But the game is so much fun, I had a blast playing it.

The game is very pretty. The music is cool and the theme and esthetic are very good. The lore bits are awesome are really sell the atmosphere of a decaying world.

The number that increases (speed) is very low, (almost always below 1 km/h), which feels very slow for a train and it increases linearly, so the distance increases quadratically. This is very slow growth for this type of game and does not produce the enjoyment of number go up very fast. Moreover, this speed feels in conflict with the lore.

Religion and Dark arts are useless, so you could cut them to focus on the train and the upgrades. You could have used more images for the different parts of the journey of the train (maybe use AI to generate a few?).

The rhythm is slow as you need a lot of health to get to the end.

I would love to play a full version of this game where more time was put in development as I really enjoy incremental games with a detailed narrative.
