You have a little spring, a patch of earth and eight rains. What will you grow?

I made Rainroom, a cozy, turn-based strategy game about growing a garden one small decision at a time. Choose your plants, guide the water and see what blooms when the rain arrives.

Play Rainroom free in your browser
No download or game account needed.

Rainroom's opening six-by-six garden has a spring, fern and moss, beside three plant choices.

Your first garden: two choices before the rain.

Plant another bellflower, bring water to a thirsty fern, or tend the plants you already have? You get two actions before each rain, so every little patch of garden asks you to make a choice.

  • Take your time. There’s no decision timer, and you can preview the rain and undo your actions before releasing it.
  • Find your own combinations. Six plants have different water needs and bonuses from their neighbours.
  • Grow another garden. Look back at what worked, try a different approach, or send a friend the same starting garden and compare your results.

The current public playtest, Playtest 03, includes a season review, a journal of your finished gardens and shareable challenges.

Try one garden and see what you’d grow differently next time. If you feel like sharing, I’d love to see a screenshot of what you grew.

All gameplay is free. If you’d like to support Rainroom, the optional US$5 Garden Notes download includes an illustrated booklet and woodland wallpapers.

Browser note: tested on desktop Chromium. Firefox, Safari and physical phone testing are still pending. Progress is saved in your current browser.

Development used AI assistance for code, procedural SVG artwork, writing and synthesised sound code. No generative AI service runs during play.
