Thank you for taking the time to give some feedback!

I completely agree with you on most of your takes. I was going into the UI design with the kind of "green glow, early computers" idea but I think I went too far into making everything dark and simple. At one point everything had labels and was much brighter and I moved away from that to make it a bit more atmospheric and looking back, I probably need to find a middle ground.

The resources spawning was the last thing I wanted to polish up before submitting and then I ran into the fact the web export from Godot uses a different renderer and it blew up all of my lighting. In my scramble to get that fixed, I truly ran out of time to make the resources behave like I would want them to. I like the idea that as your ship upgrades, the resources will be spread out a bit more but also more valuable so that the upgrades feel worth getting.

I appreciate your time and your kind words!

I found a few tutorials on stacked sprites before the jam started and decided I wanted to try to make something with them. Here is an example but there are a bunch on youtube!

I appreciate the feedback! I actually tested a few of those ideas and just ran out of time to make them good enough to include.

The better crystals to mine further out was the very next thing I was going to add but could not within the time. I also had an enemy but the movement looked awful and I think I just lacked the talent to make it functional in the hours I had left.

The reverse bug is something I just totally missed so thank you for that!

The battery being the only challenge is the number one thing that bothered me when I was publishing. I figured it was too simple or easy as it sits but I didn't want to mess with the rules and try to go back and add something. I have found the broader response that the battery is too harsh very interesting for that reason but I'm not the type to try and argue with someone who is nice enough to share their thoughts.

Your feedback and the "dream" version of this that I had are pretty close so I will reach out if I ever make progress and you can let me know what you think!

Edit: I should mention that this version was done in a week for the Brackeys Game Jam 2026.1

Clicking outside to close the overlay is a great idea. That is the first thing I will add if I keep this going!

Thank you for your feedback and kind words.

This has the feeling of a flash game I would have put hours into as a kid, great work!

Give mine a look and I will get you back after work today!

Give mine a shot!

What a great little game! The art has so much character and soul.

Jawbreaker with little jaw breaker shoes is my favorite.

I would love some feedback!

As far as I understand, the closing period is just for what will judged in this Jam. That version of the file will be locked down from changes but nothing is stopping you from keeping the project going.

I got some tips for you on this one! I actually made a very similar game for my very first project. A cheat to keep your character looking good on the shooting scenes, use a sprite for the gun that is separate from your main sprite. The gun will rotate around a stationary person and it will make things like making a walking animation much easier.

The other tip is more broad but one that I think a lot of people could find some benefit in: Go find a game that plays like the one you want to make, and "steal" from it.  As long as you aren't literally copying and pasting from someone, use their ideas and do your best to replicate them. That is basically what all art is, just remixing everyone else's ideas in a new package. It can give you some clear direction on where to go instead of doing the classic "implement new feature instead of making real progress" thing.

I played your game for a while! I loved the music and I think making a crafting system for a game jam game is praise worthy in itself.

The few notes I have are:

  • The overall look and feel is what makes games like work for me. I love the painted style and I love the color choices but there is some improvements you could make just make everything more cohesive. Outline line weights being different, shading and perspectives kind of wonking out here and there.  Things that I have no doubt could be fixed up with more time!
  • The character is great, I love a space helmet, but a more detailed version with the whole suite of animations (8 directional, idle, harvesting) I think is what can sell a game like this the most.
  • Gameplay wise, everything worked as intended. I went in completely blind and quickly figured out it was a crafting game so I think you did a good job guiding the player into the loop. The way I play videogames is probably coloring this but, I want everything to stack, even just 3-5 at a time. I would happily spend an hour just walking around, jamming out, and picking things up just to go back and craft everything I can all at once. That feels like a different game loop though so it might not be something you even want to make.

Overall I really enjoyed this game! I think it has a lot of potential!

I can say now that I have had a day to think this whole project over, I spent far too long on the look and not nearly enough on fleshing out mechanics. There is quite a bit I wanted to add but just ran out of time so I had to turn it what I had.

It has me thinking a lot about picking this project back up in a week or so with some fresh ideas and seeing where I can take it. If anyone else is feeling the same way and wants some constructive feedback on where things could go, drop in and I will share my (possibly worthless) ideas!

I would love to hear what you think:

This feels like the first version of a game that I would absolutely love! A bit more involved than some of the of the auto battler type games I have seen and seems like there is a lot of potential for growth.

Great work!

Thank you for taking the time to play and review! I actually love the idea of a reset functionality and it could either cost battery or "shards"/currency!

Trying to make what is actually a flat square feel like you were traveling around an entire planet is what I was going for but I for sure need a bit more time to get the feeling down a bit better.  I will be trying yours out later today!

Great game! We had very similar ideas to start out with and seeing it done in a tonal very different way is awesome. Great work!

Getting lost happened to me while making it! I put in shells in the shape of arrows to try to show where to go but that is obviously not a great solution lol.

I think if I go any further with this one, I will add an arrow that appears and guides you back after a certain amount of time. Or maybe something you can click to show the way but it takes a bit of your battery life? Either way, thank you playing and thank you for the nice words!

This is one of the coolest looking games I have played in this jam. I think you have something here if you were to flesh it out and polish it up. A lot of character!

I really like the feel of the car.  I spent a while just driving around before getting started.

I love the character in this one. Fun little game!

Fun platformer! I was trying to see how far you can get by just jump and up-right dashing and it worked for longer than expected.

Love the main character sprite. Little things like the fall animation make games like this worth checking out!

This is my first jam so any feedback would be greatly appreciated!

Love the art! UI needs a little love but even still, great game!

Has a real Warioware feeling to it, which is meant to be a compliment!

Give ASTR.x a shot!

This game is fun!

This game is awesome. I love the whole vibe and I spent like 5 minutes just hopping around in start area because the movement feels nice.

Great work!

I would love some constructive feedback! I find that to be the hardest thing to get on new game ideas.

Here is ASTR.x:

Happy to see more deep ocean ideas!

This was great!

I love the art direction here. Cute and crunchy!

The controls may be a bit whacky, but it is fun and I think that is what matters. Good stuff.
