I couldn't figure out the boat puzzle. I spent at least 30 minutes trying every combination I could think of. I'm curious to know if anyone has completed that part. This definitely feels like a classic NES game. The music seems a bit muffled; don't know if that was intentional. I was diappointed to finally find the key and enter the basement through the door with the cold knob only to find ... nothing. I'm sure it plays a role at some point, but I need to get to other games. Good job!

I am so terrible at your game, but I was never good at driving games and especially when they involve shifting gears. To be clear, that is not a criticism on your artwork, creativity, or overall game. I like your game very much! I wish I was better at it ... lol. The graphics, controls, and gameplay are on point! I got Pole Position vibes. Great job!
I finally figured out that the controls include 'z' and 'x' on keyboard to jump and stab/thrust. I didn't see anything about the keyboard keys mapped as D-Pad, A, B, Start, and Select in the screenshots. Maybe, I looked in the wrong place. I'm used to playing with WASD for movement and using keys on the right side of the keyboard for things that 'A' and 'B' are supposed to do ... at least for classic NES-style games. So, it was very difficult for me to play using the arrow keys as movement and 'z' and 'x' to jump and attack. I think the aesthetics in the game are nice and the audio is good. I can't say I made it anywhere far enough to comment fairly on gameplay and such.
I was finally able to play it in my browser. The aesthetics are great. I love the huge sword and the face that the hero makes when he has to use it. I'm pretty sure I visited every area and didn't see what's in your game screenshots. I only made a couple of run throughs and never activated a dungeon or anything of the sort. I'm sure that is on me, since I was probably supposed to step on a specific tile or something. At one point, I got stuck and could not move; this happened when I walked down in one area and transitioned to the new area below that had "water" on the right and a stone pumpkin person near the bottom left. I included the image here. I don't know why I was still smiling, though, because I was frustrated I couldn't move. :)
I really dig your artwork and style. That sword slashing animation is very satisfying. I got 8 hits in a row and didn't notice Frenzy. I also noticed that rats would sometimes follow their path but stop mid-air upon activation. This happened a couple of time, early, when I reached the vertical platforms with the rat on each platform.
Good work!
I like the music and SFX. I like the graphics. I LOVE the "grappling hook" mechanic; took me back to Bionic Commando. That is absolutely delightful and fullfilling. Your game is a bit too challenging for me - can't complete/beat it - but this is not an indictment on your creativity and development skills. Chalk it up to, "This person [me] just sucks at playing games." :)
Good job!
I like the graphics and the music, but I don't understand what I'm supposed to do. I can see the 0/6 Tasks completed and Boss Calm area, but those don't change. I was able to use WASD to move around; none of my other keyboard keys do anything. I'm not sure whether there are no other controls mapped or if this game can only be played with an NES game controller/pad. Your page offers no information in this regard. If you update controls, control information, or gameply instructions, let me know and I will provide a more appropriate rating.
Great work on the art style and challenge balance. It really captures the CURSE feel. A few notes that could elevate the game further:
- Audio: Adding music and SFX would make a big difference in storytelling and immersion.
- Diamond mechanic: I noticed the diamond count persists through death, and diamonds respawn each time. This allowed me to collect the same diamonds multiple times in a single run and inflate my score. If this isn’t intentional, it might be worth revisiting.
- One visual note: In the final cut-scene, there’s a beam/blast effect that, to me, reads as unintentionally phallic, especially with the white streaks. I can’t say if that was intentional, but it stood out and could be distracting or disturbing for some players. You might consider adjusting the shape, color, or particle details to avoid that interpretation.
Solid foundation! I look forward to seeing where you take it.
