CLUBE -- looking for committed programmer
I've been developing a 2D platformer adventure called CLUBE for around five years. I'm at the point where the project has grown beyond what I can realistically build alone. What started as a small GDevelop project grew into something much grander with fleshed out characters, story, mechanics, polished menus, polished systems, and environments.
My main roadblock has been developing the game alone. I've done just fine with art, music, writing, etc but programming has been the biggest hurdle. I'm looking for someone to help me genuinely build something grand and turn it from my prototype into a proper game.
What is CLUBE?
CLUBE is a story-driven 2D platformer with a unique identity--the world doesn't behave as it should.
You play as Tyro, an arrogant king lost from his home, and his friends in a colorful world populated by fleshed-out friends and foes.
The major gameplay mechanic is LUCKY Events — specially designed events that temporarily throw the rules of the game into chaos. The player never knows exactly what will happen when one begins... The game could become a bullet hell, you could lose all gravity, you could get trapped in the dialog box, your friends could become an inventory item, you could accidentally enter another universe, and much more. In this scenario, you would have one goal in mind--surviving and resealing the LUCKY Event back into its origin to return the game back to the status quo.
What starts as a typical 2D platformer with an emphasis on characters and exploring becomes pure chaos--but in a good way.
What exists already?
After five years of continuously rebuilding the game in GDevelop, I have a small prototype featuring:
- A polished 2D platformer controller with several characters to play as
- Hand drawn, fleshed out pixel art environments to explore
- Artsy menu and UI systems
- A fully working and advanced dialogue system
- Core game systems
- Custom music tracks
- A clear vision for the story's direction and the game structure
- Existing past playable prototypes with different combinations of features
I'm currently hoping to move the project from GDevelop to something like Godot or Unity to better suit the game's ambitious needs. I'm specifically interested in finding a programmer who can help me evaluate the options and establish a new technical foundation of the game.

Who I am looking for
I'm looking for a 2D gameplay/technical programmer
Ideally someone who:
- Has experience with Godot, Unity, or another similar engine
- Enjoys building gameplay
- Is interested in a long-term project
- Can communicate consistently
- Is comfortable giving feedback
- Can finish their work
I'm much more interested in finding one genuinely interested person than a huge team of undedicated people!
You don't need to be a professional--CLUBE is a weird game, and I'd much rather work with someone who's genuinely excited about making something unusual than just getting the job done.
Commitment
This game is currently a passion project rather than a funded professional studio project. I want to be completely transparent that I cannot offer a salary. Revenue share is something we can talk about though! I plan to release this game paid on Steam.
I'm looking for someone who can make a realistic, sustainable commitment, even if only several hours a week.
The initial goal is to create a small base for the game, just a little slice of it.
Once I know that we work well together, I'd like that person to become a core member of the project.
What I am looking for right now
I'm by no means looking for someone to take over for five years of unfinished work.
I'm looking for someone who wants to sit down with me, look at what I've built, help determine the right technical direction, and build the next version of Clube together.
Why me?
I am primarily the creative/design side of the project. I've developed the game's art, writing, music, characters, mechanics, menus, and overall vision myself the past five years. I'm not looking for someone to simply execute a list of tasks--I want a collaborator who can bring their own ideas and expertise to the project.

If this sounds interesting, I'd love to talk.
