You can tell this was made by someone who loves the beat em up genre. There's just so much cool stuff in this game. You can stun lock enemies but it's also really fast and satisfying. The skill floor is low with the infinite quarters but the skill ceiling is high with trying to beat the game without dying once. The art and music are great. Just top notch stuff

The Virtual Beemo is so cute and the Guardians of Sunshine game is way better than it needs to be. It controls well and the music slaps. It’s simple but satisfying platforming and all the enemies feel really fleshed out and memorable, largely because of the Adventure Time episode. I think only have three lives is a little harsh but that is how it goes in the episode. I haven’t played any of the Adventure Time games (I’ve heard they’re all pretty bad) but this works really well as an Adventure Time game. There’s cute creatures, fun movement and satisfying combat. I think that matches the vibe of the show with its lovable characters, funny animation and cartoony violence
Metroidvania usually isn’t my genre but I really enjoyed this. I loved the aesthetic. Even if it is just Evangelion on the Game Boy but I doubt there’s anywhere else you can get an Eva metroidvania on the Game Boy. I loved how the mecha felt to control. It’s big and weighty and destructive. Getting to freely cycle between different weapon types with unlimited ammo made killing enemies feel great. The game definitely gets less fun when you have to leave the mech but I still enjoyed myself the whole time. The exploration never became overbearing and this game just has a strong game feel
I love the art and how it’s all hand drawn. The story is strong thematically as well. You were always worried about being accepted and fitting in. To the point where you might even murder just to feel that sense of affirmation. All the endings are good although some are certainly stronger than others. This is a great horror story about the horrors of abandoning your individuality just to be liked
Great art and sound. First encountering the monster and having no idea what to do is a great scary moment. The actual gameplay does feel a bit repetitive though and the narrative isn't all especially interesting or satisfying. For a quick farming (or scary) game fix this works though. Definitely worth playing it's just not something I think I would come back to
Adding farming sim aspects to a visual novel works well. The farming is repetitive and grindy but that’s what we love about the genre. The world is also strong with gorgeous art and music. This game really shines with the story though. The narrative adds a lot to the world with its lore and it’s a great subversion to the farming sim genre and the kinds of stories those games usually tell. Two of the three endings focus on putting a horror spin onto farming sim tropes but the seemingly true ending expands itself thematically into a beautiful story about being your own person instead of an extension of your parents. Overall I really liked it
Genuinely really frightening little horror game. The sound and the lighting and the monster designs are all great and left me literally shaking. Usually I don’t get on with exploration heavy games like this but this one isn’t too big to become overwhelming and getting lost feels a lot scarier here than frustrating
Lovely little clicker game. The aesthetic is super cute, especially your little assistants. I think the gameplay loop is also good. Everything grows fast enough for there to be pretty much constant movement which is fun and engaging. My only complaints are that there isn’t much progression so you end up having bought all the upgrades very quickly and the sound mixing isn’t great. The cauldron sound effect is way louder than the music and the sound effect itself is a bit grating, especially when it blocks out the nice music. Overall I really liked this though. How could I not when it lets me be a cute little witch making my little potions with my cute little pets

Wow. I went into this game very uncertain. It’s risky territory the dev is playing with here. I ended up not only liking it but loving it so much more than I ever could’ve expected. Yes this game does portray serial killers as hot anime characters but you are handed the tools to make whatever you want of that. My first playthrough had me doing what I would do in real life… freaking the fuck out, leaving the server and calling the cops. I expected this to lead to a unsatisfying joke ending but no this ending is entirely legitimate. It gives a satisfying ending to your character, it doesn’t judge you for rejecting the game’s entire premise. You get to play with the wonderful character creator to make a cutie with majestic hair and you get to see the great UI and attention to detail that this game has and then you leave without sacrificing your principles. That experience on its own is a worthwhile one. It’s not you have to make out with murderers or you don’t get to play either. As I saw in my second playthrough the game repeatably hands you the option to leave the server throughout the game and everytime I found it a genuinely difficult decision.
This game is surprisingly strong in terms of representation overall. I don’t think it goes too far with sensationalising serial killers and it does a great job with giving the player tools for gender expression and with its LGBT cast. A lot of the heavy lifting is done by the dialogue which is incredible. I love the characters. The voice acting is great and everyone feels real and very likeable. Just the vibe overall has the feeling of being in a Discord server with online friends. You can even change your status, adding so much fun expression to the game even if I know it literally doesn’t do anything. It’s clear the devs have spent a lot of time in Discord servers and I think this is the only context where that could be considered a compliment. This game didn’t make me want to start murdering people but it did make me want to make new friends in Discord servers which I haven’t done since Covid.
My only nitpick is that the music, whilst a catchy tune that sets the mood well is just one track that gets repetitive very quickly. You can turn off the music and play your own so it’s not a big deal but obviously it would be even better if this had a great or at least varied soundtrack.
If Quentin Tarantino can get away with his characters chatting about McDonald’s and doing silly little dances then this game gets a free pass on hot anime murderers! This is like the video game Tarantino would make except with less racial slurs and more queer characters so this is way cooler. Also I watched Jennifer’s Body for the first time because of this game and that on its own would’ve earned it 5 stars. Misaki is the best character BTW and I’m allowed to love her guilt free cause they’re not a serial killer they’re only in it for the money!
I loved this! The art style, the characters, the whole vibe! I love how finding your passion is treated as a serious but exciting prospect. I love how getting first place isn’t the only goal. I love how glamorous Delora is!
Usually VNs with loads of endings are a red flag for me. I feel like they tend to spread themselves too thin and have unsatisfying endings but every ending feels satisfying. Even the stay at home ending. It seems like it’ll be a joke route and it kinda is but it’s still its own legitimate route with its own joys to discover.
I really like how different characters require more or less time spent with them for them to ask you out. It just makes sense. Some people will be more confident or more keen to date you than others. It helps make them feel like real people rather than romance routes in a VN.
So yeah it’s cute and fun and totes adorbs
Hanging off the walls and leaping off is a fun mechanic. The art is nice to look at and has a lot of personality (the sunglasses alone give Xolani a lot of swagger) but sometimes it was difficult to tell what was a collectible and what was an enemy. The environmentalist theming was strong. I don’t want to harm Xolani’s home
Real cute art and fun characters. I enjoyed myself here despite how statism games where you have to manage your money and stress stats tend not to be my thing. This is probably my favourite of those kinds of games but I still would’ve preferred if this was just a basic visual novel. Worrying about Mayu’s financial and mental wellbeing distracted me from the actual romance routes. A basic visual novel is clearly not what the dev wanted to make though so it’s not really a criticism just a preference. My only actual criticism is that the game’s music player just didn’t work for half the songs. Music just wouldn’t play a lot of the time so I ended up just muting the music and playing my own. Also some of the dialogue ended up repeating on multiple days like I had the same conversation about the roof leaking with the landlord twice in the same playthrough which was awkward. These weren’t major issues though. On the other hand I loved the little dev note. It was really interesting to see the other side of the screen like that. You go into this wanting cute girls to kiss and bite and that’s what you get
This was so cute! I really enjoyed it. The art was cute, the music was cute, the character creator was loads of fun. Conceptually this is just gold. I have a few nitpicks but they’re more things I think would’ve made it better rather than things that brought my experience down. For a game about making potions it doesn’t feel great to make the potions. I really like adding the ingredients manually and looking through the little book to figure out what you need. Gameplay wise that’s all great it just feels off that there’s no visual or sound effect or anything when you actually make the potion. The other thing is that whilst she’s adorable and I love her and I absolutely wanted a smooch it feels a bit icky that your boss kisses you first (At least in the ending I got) The whole boss/employee relationship is a bit dicey but this game frames it as a fun fantasy so I think that’s fine. It just would’ve felt better if you were in more control as to whether you wanted to pursue that or not especially since I felt like I didn’t make any choices that suggested that I wanted that. Overall this was a magical experience though
I’m really not sure how I feel about this… it’s well made. The art is good. The music is good. The dialogue is all fine. It is effective horror. I feel scared. I also feel disgusted and violated but I’m not sure if it’s with purpose or not. At times this feels like someone’s pure artistic expression that’s letting them work through some really complicated feelings. If that’s the case then that’s wonderful. I’d never want to suggest that someone shouldn’t do that. At other times though this feels like shock value for the sake of itself that disregards and dismisses some really sensitive topics. I kinda feel taken advantage of, emotionally if not financially. I’m surprised by the 5 star average rating. I could see people loving this and giving it 5 stars but not without a lot of people also despising it and giving it 1 star
This was such a cute little game. I really like the idea of virtual pet games but a lot of them aren’t able to hold my attention. Exploring the overworld here to find the food is really the extra engagement that I needed from all those other virtual pet games. The vibes are also spot on with the cute monster designs and soundtrack. There’s even a tacked space shooter section at the end, which sounds like a complaint but really I thought it was really cool. I’ve played GB studio games that are just space shooters that couldn’t do it as well as this game did
Even in a fantasy where running your own successful business is as easy as spamming one button capitalism is still gonna go off the rails and destroy humanity. Really enjoyed this. It’s probably my favourite clicker game. It’s super simple but it doesn’t really need to be anything more than it is. The mushroom is cute, I like picking my company’s name and I like pressing buttons. As others have said it’s not very balanced with the upgrades but just spamming the one upgrade has its own charm in its mindless simplicity for me. My only nitpick is that it could use some music and/or sound effects to feel more satisfying
I’m not really sure why this is listed as a prototype rather than a full game. It seems to be crashing for a lot of people but I must be getting lucky since I didn’t experience a single crash over two playthroughs. Maybe it crashes on real hardware… Anyway the game is really fun. I love the aesthetic and Blackjack is fun already so this just adds to it with the spells. This achieves a great level of balance between randomness with the dice rolling and how different spells are removed each playthrough (they seem to be the ones you use the most but I’m not sure) and strategy with the spells and how they carry over to subsequent games so you’re always planning ahead
I loved this. I really wanted to find a little fishing game on here that I could just pick up and play when I had the urge without needing to commit to a playthrough of something like Harvest Moon. This was exactly what I wanted and more! The fishing mechanics are engaging whilst also being relaxing. There’s no annoying systems like bait that you can run out of. I can genuinely see myself just fishing by the pond near your house for ages. Actually playing through the game is great too. I love exploring the world. There’s so many little details like the pidgeys on rooftops and trainers catching Pokémon in the background! This feels alive in a way that even the official Pokémon games don’t. The rival is a lot of fun and he even rivals those from the official games (pun intended). The soundtrack is also great and wouldn’t sound out of place in official Pokémon games, especially the rival theme! When I was a kid I really liked the idea of being a character in this world who just lived in Viridian city and would train up Caterpies in the forest rather than travelling the region to become the champion. Doing that must have been my first roleplaying experience and this game has given me the chance to relive that experience all over again
On one hand it's a crime to make a Harvest Moon inspired game without fishing. On the other it's incredible that this game has better combat than the Rune Factory games. I loved this. The movement feels great so dodging around enemies and getting strikes in and quickly ducking away works really well. I love the town and it's vibe and the characters. I like all of the marriage candidates. I've been hoping to find a short Harvest Moon style game that I can just playthrough when I'm in that mood but don't want to commit loads of hours to and this really scratches that itch
