Haha, honestly, I completely understand you.

And I missed one thing: the puzzles are great!

I loved the character dancing in the start menu, haha!

The gameplay is great, but I think the camera could be improved—maybe center it more on the player or have it follow the movement more smoothly. When you're heading down, it’s hard to see where you're going and it’s easy to fall by accident.

Also, the sound design is well done, I really like it! The bridges that assemble and disassemble were a very cool touch as well.

hahahahah that's me

I really enjoyed this! Even though the mechanics are simple, the game has huge potential. The menus are very polished and look great. It took me a while, but I managed to beat it.

Regarding the feedback about needing a tutorial: I actually disagree. Part of the charm is learning by trial and error; it made the experience much more interesting. To be honest, I didn't feel the horror aspect as much because I was so focused on survival—I was completely 'locked in' repairing the door and running to get upgrades.

You have a very solid base here and can definitely keep growing the project from this. Great job!

The atmosphere in this game is incredible; it honestly had me feeling very tense the whole time. I was also surprised by how polished the menus and the overall game feel—it’s clearly very well-made. As a bit of constructive feedback, the camera sensitivity felt a bit too high on my computer, which made it slightly uncomfortable and left me feeling a bit motion sick. Adding a sensitivity slider would be a great fix.  Aside from that, great work!

Great game, love the atmosphere! Suggestion: Please add a quick restart button on the game over screen so we don't have to restart the entire app manually.

I'll take a look at yours when I get home

Thanks a lot! I'm glad you enjoyed the artwork and the 'stick-punching'. We actually wanted to add more impact and blood effects, but since we only worked on it during the last 5 days of the jam, we couldn't fit it all in. I'll definitely keep improving the combat for future updates!

Thanks for the great feedback! Regarding the gameplay, I wanted to add blood and more effects, but ran out of time for the jam. I'll definitely work on that for future updates!

As for the story, the family was actually running away from 'Father'. He suffers from schizophrenia, and the final scene (which we couldn't finish in time) shows him surrounded by dead police officers. The objects were meant to unlock scenes explaining this, but we didn't manage to implement it.

Thank you for your advice on the map edges and the info, it really helps!

Hi everyone! I just submitted my first jam game, 'Father'. It’s an atmospheric horror experience about a man searching for his family in a dark forest.

⚠️ Quick heads-up: Since it's my first time, I forgot to translate it and it's currently in Spanish, but I hope the vibe and the gameplay still reach you! I'm really looking forward to your feedback and advice to keep growing as a dev.

You can play it here: https://trysd4n.itch.io/father

Father is an atmospheric horror and suspense game made with Godot. You play as a man searching for his family in a dark forest, using your flashlight to find clues while avoiding armed enemies. It’s all about stealth and survival.

Important Note: This is my first jam and I unfortunately forgot to switch the language to English before the deadline, so the game is currently in Spanish. I hope the atmosphere and gameplay still provide a good experience! I’d love to hear your thoughts and any advice you have to improve it.

Can't wait to see the stream!

Thank you! Since it's my first jam, I forgot to add a tutorial and translate it to English, so I apologize for the confusion. I'm glad you liked the art! Do you have any specific advice to make the gameplay or UI better?
