Hey hey! 👋

Here's a basic info on how to install mods to Unity-Chan: Desktop Companion

  1. Download the mods you want, basic pack can be found here:  [Mega Link]
  2. Unzip the archive
  3. You need to have launched Unity-Chan: Desktop Companion at least once so it creates mod directory. You should find it in
    C:\Users\[USER_ACCOUNT]\.unityChanCompanion\Mods

    or in other way
    %USERPROFILE%\.unityChanCompanion\Mods
  4. Select .ucdcmod mods you want to add and paste them to the mod directory
  5. Open the game
  6. Some mods require additional setup: they may require API keys, or any other info typed in mod settings
  7. Once you create API key, play the UCDC game and click in phone Menu -> Settings -> Mods, select the mod you want to edit settings and paste the API.
  8. ElevenLabs also needs voiceID. For it you need to browse ElevenLabs page, select the voice you like and copy its voice ID in settings

Hey hey! 👋
I just released a demo version of the game I'm working on: Unity-Chan: Desktop Companion!

https://trustyjacopo.itch.io/unity-chan-desktop-companion-demo

In short the game is a combination of a desktop mascot and a virtual room of mini-games to play with her. Think of it as two worlds connected: Unity-chan can visit your desktop, and you can visit her room and spend time together! 🤎🧡

But it doesn't end here! I wanted this desktop pet game to be truly extensible. So I added extra systems that may interest you if you're a fellow Game Developer or tech-savvy guy:

1. Open communication API
You can enable UCDC to listen to requests from other applications. You're making some challenging game? How about you add requests that makes Unity-chan mock the player every time they make mistakes! Or maybe you're doing a puzzle game, then Unity-chan could send indirect hints to the player. An integration between games, a true UNITY! Get it? Because of ... okay, onto next point

2. Mod support
We can't talk extensibility without the most common way. As for now I made sure that the game supports at least 4 major things to be modded:
- Character model obviously, I just can't wait to see Unity-chan turning into an even prettier creature like Shrek
- Text-generation API, as the game uses built-in LLM, I know other people would love more performant systems, I already made ChatGPT mod myself
- Voice-gen API, same for above, one could want to have real voice for Unity-chan answers, ChatGPT and ElevenLabs mods already made
- Personality override, just so overriding model doesnt end on just looks

3. Twitch Integration
This one is more for content creators, but I wanted to showcase the extent I'd love the game to be integrated with. With this enabled, you can make Unity-chan respond to the chat on your stream. You can set the interval so she doesn't flood with too much activity. And I made globally available hotkey to shut her current talk in case viewers lead her to undesirable topics. 😅 And don't worry, I made sure Unity-chan is really safe guarded in terms of NSFW topics.

Oh and one thing - the game uses LLM to generate chat and can possibly generate voice responses in real time, but no art or any assets were made using AI! Unity-chan herself is a free asset made by Unity Technologies, and most others were either made by me, commissioned to artists or bought as asset packs.

Feel free to hit me up if you'd be interested in adding integration with my game.

Maybe we could cross-promote our games and create one big commUnity! yeah I did it again
