Huh how strange, the only thing I can think of is moving the folder to your desktop (if you were trying to open it out of downloads) and trying to open it there, or open as administrator? Otherwise, on the next build I'll check the signing information, due to time this build was pretty rushed

oh no, did it say like "Windows protected your PC" when you try to open it? if so I believe there's a "show more" button (or worded similarly) and when you click it you can choose "run anyway"

By the way, your game is incredible!

Definitely look forward to a patch that includes working battles! I had not heard of Ultima Underworld until now but that's an awesome comparison, definitely adjacent to the vision we had. And there's for sure a bit of I Have No Mouth and I Must Scream in there too. Thanks for playing!

Thanks so much for taking the time! And yep, we're definitely planning on releasing a patch later on that makes the whole text adventure mechanic more intuitive.

love love love the surreal and creepy imagery in this!! However, I was having some trouble figuring out how interactions with the memories work, unless I missed out on a control the yellow particle places or walking around it doesn't do anything, so I wasn't quite sure on the context there(though I did get the fishing rod). I also feel like if the map was smaller it would make the gameplay more engaging as to compensate for the amount of things that are interactable/give progression. Overall though really interesting world you made here, good work!

yes! including bug fixing! such a fun concept and it was so fun working with you guys -the programmer/tech artist

It's no bother I genuinely really appreciate your help! Last thing I could recommend trying is running the latest version of the game as administrator. If that doesn't work, DM me on twitter @onetorusdev or tumblr @this-too-shall-bleed cause this thread might get long lol

Hey! I just released a patch that should solve the issue you were having with the latest version of the game, let me know if you try it out!

oh no :\ weird because when I went to playtest the patch I just put out with another old laptop of mine the same thing happened, it would just stay on the loading screen and never play properly. Since it has run fine on my main computer and other's perhaps it is then a specs issue? What's your ram? I have 16gb ram but the computer I was testing it on had 8gb. Since I'm a new dev this game is definitely not very well optimized, so it could be the case that its just overloading the ram on startup (even though its such a small game, I have no idea.)

I'm super glad to hear that you enjoyed even the older version of the game though, thank you so much. A game patch for optimization is prioritized to be next, so I will be sure to let you know when that's out!

so I tested this myself again and I think I see what you mean--you can walk around but not move the camera even if the dialogue has not been cycled through yet (by pressing enter or space). So to get out of the locked state press enter or space, the dialogue will disappear and you can walk freely. However I will work on a quick patch right now to ensure you are fully locked and it shows the control on screen just to get rid of future confusion lol

update: patch released for redownloading!

strange, so again my question is does pressing space/enter not finish the dialogue? I believe clicking (left mouse) also gets you out of the locked state in my testing. Glad you enjoy it so far sorry about this difficulty :,) I put the controls in the game description but maybe I should have put them in the dialogue box too

and I'm really glad you enjoy it and all the references haha! trust me at that point you are like 30% in!! "got johned" lmfao

oh no I'm sorry to hear that, so the text does not progress or disappear at the end of dialogue even when pressing space or enter? those are the two keys that progress the dialogue when it happens, then you should be able to move when the dialogue is done cycling though (you have to press it after every line)

thanks man!!!!! and yeah no I definitely was focusing on learning the softwares and everything over creating a cohesive story for an outside viewer, and capturing atmosphere is where my brain flocks to in any situation regardless. so super valid critique. appreciate it :^)

fair, there are quite a few niche references. Thanks!!

nice thanks for playing!

thank you Odd!!!

thank you so much! many games to go (:

thanks!!

oh man I just found this on a whim, absolutely wonderful. So underrated, how! love the music and the playing feels nostalgic, also the detail with the beast randomly in un-discovered tiles is fantastic.

ayy :D glad you enjoyed my addition as well of course

Cohesive and detailed environment design and like a lot of people are saying the graphics & visuals are just great. My first time playing an alien horror, very much enjoyed!
