Hello everyone,
First and foremost, we want to extend a huge thank you to every developer who submitted a level! The judging panel was filled with both excitement and difficult decisions throughout the review process, as the creativity and quality of the submissions far exceeded our expectations. The official results can now be found on our website here: https://gamehub.tripo3d.ai/games
We’ve noticed the discussions within the community regarding the "Portal Pass" theme. We understand the confusion, and we acknowledge that the rules as initially described may have contained some ambiguity. We would like to take this opportunity to clarify the core vision of this Game Jam:
What is "Portal Pass"?
"Portal Pass" is the name of this competition, and more importantly, it represents our ultimate vision—to connect the incredible worlds you have all created into a single, cohesive game using a grand "Portal" system. This portal (which will be implemented by Tripo after the jam) serves as the bridge between levels, not a mandatory element inside them.
Does my level need to contain a physical "Portal"?
No, it does not.
The "physical or logical 'Portal'" mentioned in the rules refers to the logic of level completion—in other words, how the player "transitions" to the next world after achieving your level's goal. This transition can take any form: a flash of light, a wormhole, a gust of wind, or simply the game character walking into a specific area that triggers an ending. We encourage you to use your imagination to design this "end and beginning" logic; it does not have to be a green circle drawn on a wall.
What were the judging criteria?
Our review process focused entirely on: the completeness of the level, the innovativeness of its mechanics, and the clarity of its completion conditions. As the rules stated, characters and gameplay types are unrestricted. Therefore, the winning entries were recognized based on their excellence as standalone levels, not because they depicted a portal.
About the Judging Process & Recognition
It is precisely because we saw so many outstanding works that the judging process was incredibly challenging. We even doubled all the special awards to ensure we could recognize as much of the fantastic creativity as possible.
We received over 100 submissions, and the scores for many works were extremely close. To honor this incredible effort, we have decided to prepare certificates and physical trophy awards for the Top 50 entries. We will be reaching out via email to request shipping addresses so we can mail these to you.
What’s Next?
Looking ahead, our team will be connecting all your levels with portals to create the full Portal Pass experience. We are thrilled to announce that this compiled game will be showcased at GDC (Game Developers Conference) , presenting your work to a global audience of industry professionals.
We sincerely apologize to those developers who were confused by the theme. As an experimental event, we recognize there is room for improvement in our communication. However, we assure everyone that all submitted works were judged fairly under the same set of standards.
We truly value the passion of every participant and welcome further discussions about the specific designs of the works submitted. We will strive to be more precise in our communication for future events.
Thank you all for your understanding and support!
