And yep, you're right! Rika's backstory is closely tied to the whole club idea. I MEAN she's always been a bit bold and weird, but... I'll avoid spoilers though, so I won't say much more 😶

I get how your first impression of Ren was different from his actual character. He's a bit misleading, in part because the story is told from Itsuki's POV and he idealizes him just because he thinks he's pretty lol

Yeah I didn't want to go on too many tangents as Itsuki’s narration style is already wordy (?) enough, so the dialogue is pretty much filled with relevant future plot lines, I'm glad you found them interesting!
