Hi, this is the team from thatgamejam that was assigned to review your game. We did that Together, we feel the game is a wonderful gift, and we want first of all to share a heartfelt Thank You!
As we said, all 3 people in our team played your wonderful game. We had some technical issues and inadequate computers. We succeeded to install and eventually (after installing everything needed) it worked well also on older machines. We read the story and we loved it immediately, and we decided that first one player would play on their own and then two people would play it together.
Single player:
Awesome game, incredible story, I love the graphics and the typography too. Enjoyable music and sound effects. Great game play, of course it is not really enjoyable to be sent back to the beginning after completing a number of levels.
I would like to have a control that resizes or minimizes the window (i.e. friendlier than Cntrl Alt Canc, Task Manager, Minimize) so that I can not only pause it, but later return to play (after having used other windows) and maximize it again. I realize the game is meant to be immersive and it certainly is! Feel free to disregard my suggestion.
Single player mode is not easy! However the game is also designed to be played by one person. And the two-people gameplay works well only when players are used to working together and cooperating, also / especially at physical tasks (not just powerpoints!!!). Our close-knit team people, it felt much easier, and I am sure that musicians playing together would be much more so, but pick a couple of friends at random and in my opinion it could be even more difficult than single player mode.
Together: (2 players)
We think your idea is wonderful, we are two siblings, a brother and a sister (not twins, though, but many people believe we are twins), and we enjoyed it very much. It is a very collaborative game. It is not just the superpowers needed to help each other, but also the little things, like the way the box is correctly placed to let the girl without gravity inversion to pass the obstacle. I think it is very well thought, and realistic. (As realistic as anti gravity can be, of course!)
If you want, you could add checkpoints, so that we don't have to restart from the beginning. (Unless it is meant to be more realistic, as they are probably taken to their cell again when seen by cameras)
Thank you from all of us for making this game.
Thank you so much for taking the time to play our game and even more so for taking the time and effort to write such detailed, thoughtful feedback that genuinely helps us grow as designers.
Your notes about the controls are especially valuable. Hearing that the mouse sensitivity (or possible raycasting issues) made connecting hands frustrating makes us realize that we must have been so used / immersed in our game and did not notice the issue. Of course, ease of control needs a lot more attention. We also appreciate you highlighting the clarity issue around the game mechanics, indeed the onboarding needs to be redesigned and gameplay needs to be less awkward.
We are, of course, extremely flattered to hear that you liked the core idea, that the jam theme came through clearly, and that you found the accessibility options thorough.
Your suggestions are very gratefully taken: we will focus on practicing building smaller, tighter prototypes outside of jams and spend more time studying a wider range of puzzle games to sharpen our design instincts.
Thanks again for being honest, constructive, and kind. We really appreciate you taking the time and giving the game a chance and for your thought-out feedback.
Hello, I received your game to test for thatgamejam!
I really enjoyed your game, I liked the artwork and the story. And also the puzzles. I think you did a great job at making them consistent with the story. I did not understand how to interact with objects / characters at the beginning (before "connecting" with their stories), so I just clicked all the keys on my keyboard. Maybe some more clear instructions. But managed to play and finish the game. Overall great job!
Hello from the thatgamejam tester!
I think it is an interesting concept. It seems like a dream, where reality is shaped by our imagination. Also, it is a good question from a game character perspective: "who is moving the platforms? did they move because of me?". Unfortunately I got stuck in the second level at the boxes. Were they supposed to get moved using the left mouse button? Also I noticed that after, there is going to be a need for a central mouse key, which I don't have in this PC. Also, were the hands of the protagonist supposed to be blue? Or is it a Unity bug? I think you did a great job with this game!
Hello, tester from thatgemejam here! Limited time (as opposed to the character who has all the time in the world)
Beautiful concept and graphics, I also liked the talking hand, the environment, the idea. I liked the idea of restoring the fabric of the universe by traveling through it (or maybe looking in a telescope at others who travel? suggesting by looking?), and the change of perspective! Unfortunately I don't have an adequate computer for its heavy graphics, it crashed and was slow, but I liked the concept. Great job!
Hi, this is the tester assigned to you on thatgamejam! I enjoyed exploring your world very much!I did not go very far, but it seems an interesting challenge to figure out a way to get to the pot-islands. I don't know whether it is intended or not, but the fuel gets consumed even without playing, that is if one opens the game, waits for a few seconds, and checks the fuel.
Hi, thank you for taking the time and testing our game!
We agree the description could use some player guidance, the main reason it did not happen was lack of time. We thank you so very much for finding positive words for us, even thought the game is very rough. Again we thank you for taking the time to play and to share all the precious feedback you could, it is very appreciated.
Thank you so very much for your thoughtful and detailed feedback, which is gratefully appreciated. The game is, of course, very rough and very experimental. Thank you for highlighting both aspects of he imagery we had in mind, namely, electron clouds with (multiple) valencies and bonds and a fever dream. We congratulate you on passing the first level and building the short sequence if prime numbers, it is not easy at all, not even for the level designers (currently there are a number of levels, and after completion, it cycles again through them with increased difficulty). Yes, the game would benefit greatly from a tutorial and from animation, but, of course, there were two weeks and we had other committments. Again thank you for playing our game and for taking the time to review it and share thoughtful and genuine feedback, as well as for your kind wishes. We also wish you good luck and success with your future endeavours and with everything in your life.
