You're welcome Real8e. Keep up the great work, when the times right we'll look to reach out.

Hello Mark, thank you for your interest in wanting to work with us on our project. As of right now we are in the very early stages of development so a music/sound designer is not a role we are looking for. As of right now a Game Designer and Level Designer are the required roles.

However, while we already do have a composer and SFX designer on the team this may be subject to change/require more. I looked through your work, you've done great so far so well done. I'll be keeping you in mind throughout our development process. Do you have a Discord account?

Hello fellow game devs!

We are a small team of 7 soon to be 10 currently in the pre-production phase of making a 2.5D Metroidvania. We will be offering a rev share model for this project and will be providing contracts to applicants who join the team. This is a passion project for those aspiring to make something they can be proud of and in time release on platforms like Steam. Funding is also being considered and options are already in talks but before securing this we need a strong vertical slice.

The project: A 2.5D Metroidvania fantasy world inspired by Japanese mythology. The player takes on the role of a Ronin as they battle their way to redemption. Project Ronin is being made in Unreal Engine.

Two positions are sought after where we would ideally (not mandatory) like applicants to be based in the UK.

Below are the open positions we are looking for:

Level Designer – The sole level designer on the project who would have a knowledge of Metroidvania games and how the design process for such games works.

Game Designer – As the creative lead and narrative designer on the project I will be working closely with the game designer. If you have a passion for game design and have worked on some projects (game jams, released titles or some form of notable experience) I would like to hear from you. Ideally the main GD will be based in the UK for time zone purposes.

Released games are not required but experience to a capable level in these fields is. It is also not a requirement to have developed or worked on a Metroidvania but would be a nice bonus to have.

Please do reach out if you are interested or have any questions. I would be more than happy to set up a call to run through anything and get to know a little about you. Experience for these roles is important but equally passion and a willingness to learn take priority.

As long as you have that passion for game development and gaming as a whole then we would like to hear from you.

Team Crossroads.

Hello YesilElma,

Thank you for your interest. We are currently not in a position where we require localisation to other languages, this project is in the very early stages.

We only require the roles advertised but will keep you in mind for the future.

Hi Iza, no absolutely not the only reason I ask for where you reside is to know time zones for calls etc. 5 hours ahead isn't too bad :) Will message you on Discord shortly.

Hey Iza I have sent you an email a couple of days ago. Interesting to speak to you, just let me know Discord/time zone on here or via email.

Hey Visceralgames, thanks for your interest in joining our team. I will message you through Discord :)

Thanks for reaching out Iza and for your interest in joining our team. Are you based in the UK? If not what time zone are you in? Do you also have Discord? I look forward to looking through your released games and design docs.

Sent a request on Discord, what timezone are you based in?

Hey Blankmarks, I have sent you a request over on Discord. Check out my post in this thread it is currently at the top. Have a read and let me know in the comments if it sounds interesting to you and your time zone. Any questions we can catch up on Discord.

Thanks for your interest. I will send you an add shortly over on Discord. Are you UK based and does tomorrow 29th July work for you for a call?

Thanks for reaching out, I'd be more than happy to discuss the project over Discord. Could you send me a message with your Discord username and I will add you. Would you be happy to speak tomorrow? If so are you based in the UK just so I can keep track of time zones easier.

5-6 open positions are available where we would ideally (not mandatory) like applicants to be based in the UK.

Below are the open positions we are looking for:

Lead 3D Modeller – Will be the lead modeller on all character models throughout the entire project. It would be great to help with other assets such as items/weapons, but the core focus would be on the characters.

3D Modeller (environmental artist) – This person will be solely in charge for developing the environmental assets for the world we are building. It would be great to help with other assets such as items/weapons, but the core focus would be on the environment.

Level Designer – The sole level designer on the project who would have a knowledge of Metroidvania games and how the design process for such games works.

Animator/Rigger – Being realistic I know that usually these two roles are split and rare to find someone doing both to a good level. If a candidate who can do both, it would be great but if not we’re happy to split the roles.

Animator – Will be the lead and sole animator for the entire project.

Rigger – Will be the lead and sole rigger for the entire project.

Game Designer x2 – As the creative lead and narrative designer on the project I will be working closely with two game designer (one will be Lead GD). If you have a passion for game design and have worked on some projects (game jams, released titles or some form of notable experience) I would like to hear from you. I have sent you a request, once you have accepted we can get talking :)

Nice work man really looks good and would be happy for you to join the team, I am from the UK so setting up calls with you would be really easy too!

Just found your Discord will add you and happy for you to join the team :)

Hey Draigard, thank you for reaching out to me. Do you have a resume I can look at? Also what time zone are you in? Do you use Discord and if so could you send your username :)

Nice stuff Chris and thank you so much for getting back to me, I have managed to look at your web portfolio and it looks great. I already have 2 3D artists on board but let me speak with them and see if perhaps it could be useful having a third. If so it would be great to arrange a call with you to go through the project etc.

Hey Chris, unfortunately your link does not seem to work when I go into it. What role would you be having if you join a team (skillset)

A little about me, my passion and skillset lies within Narrative Design. Completed a year course in college in ND for Game Design.

Aspiring to become an ND in the games industry is my dream job, which is what brings me here, to practice and hone my craft.

Currently, I have participated in two Game Jams MVM 16 last year and MVM 19  (which I participated in twice) this year. I have managed to create a team from MVM19 who has stuck together and continued the project we have been on since. Already established and branched out a story, its characters, world and lore to a good enough level for the jam and beyond. We are a team of 8 members (max size will be 10), their roles will be written out below. Note: The overall goal for members that come on board is to continue working on this project until completion. It is exciting and fun taking part and completing game jams, however, the opportunity it opens up to finding a good team and making a game is there. The goal will be to attend MVM20 Super Edition for the 3 months and if willing, stay on board with our team.

The Team:

Creative Lead & Narrative Designer

Level Designer (Paired with me on parts of ND)

Composition & Sound Design X2 (One working on each)

Programmer X3 - C++ & Unreal Engine experience

3D Modeller (Creating all the models, helping guide designs)

3D Modeller (Environmental artist)

3D Modeller X2 (Rigging/Animating)

Roles needed:

1. 2D Artist - For the duration of the jam the main goal will be to help design and create a health bar UI. Secondary will be a title screen. Concept art will be required for the full project after the jam.

Add Note: If you are based in the UK time zone this is a massive bonus but not required.

If you share this same urge and passion to pursue a project further beyond the jam then pop me a message. If you have experience in designing and creating games or have participated in game jams before then that would be a massive bonus. Looking forward to hearing from you!

Hey Mato, have you already joined a team? What kind of 3D art experience do you have? Any UE experience?

Hi Chris, have you already joined a team or would like more experience with another team? If so share your discord username and I will message you over the weekend :)

That's understandable I will send you an add shortly :)

You can either send the link in her or I will add you on Discord and send it through there if you prefer it that way

Thank you for reaching out and your experience sounds great. Awesome you are in the UK timezone, one other thing, do you have a portfolio of any work?

Thank you for your message. Do you use Discord? If so could you send over your username and I can talk to you on there

Me and my team are in need of one more member to help us out with creating the 3D modelled characters for our project. We are a team of 8, you can view my original post below in the forum.

Details on the role:

3D Modeller to help with character designs. One position available.

Ideally if you know rigging or low poly, baking and texture this would be very helpful. Most importantly have fun with the project.

We are also looking to carry on work with this project, see it through to completion and publish the game. If this is something you are also keen on then send me a reply here. It is a great opportunity going forward. Look forward to hearing from you!

Send me yours and I'll pop you an invite.

Hey Musicallyroy,

Thanks for reaching out. That would be great, currently I'm in 2 teams, this one I created and one I have joined and helped branch out. I won't be taking on anymore members or work for now, but I will keep you in mind for future jams. All the best with MVM19 :)

Thank you :)

Sorry, this was in reply to the person who created this post.

I sent you an invite twice but nothing came through on Discord, unfortunately we now have 3 programmers in the team and feel comfortable with that number. I wish you the best of luck in getting a team. If not keep your eyes posted for future jams and post for a team before the jam starts.

(1 edit)

Thanks for your message, unfortunately I'm doing the writing side for both teams I am in. My role is the ND, but I wish you all the best with finding a team. Try put a post up a week prior to get in earlier before the jam starts, it really helps getting things rolling. Best of luck!

nice work so far though! Can you pop your Discord user here, I'll send you a message.

Hey thanks for your reply, we would look to bring you on board. Can you do rigging and do you have any work we can see or a link?

Zbmott who you messaged a programmer has also joined this second team I am in, so I would be happy to get talking if you can do the above.

(1 edit)

Added you, once you accept I can bring you on board to the second team.

Thanks for being honest. Just a note, all game jams work on deadlines but they are a great way of getting used to deadlines and managing yourself under pressure. All the best to you too!
