Hi squidchip! Multiplayer is allowed in games so long as there's no in-game chat.

When you submit a game to the jam, you own the game that you have made. If you are selected as a winner, there may be a conversation of making the game exclusive for Coolmath Games.

Hi mine303! Unfortunately, we cannot allow that as a game engine.

Hi Vastav! You can still join and participate in the game jam. Due to the varying contest rules in other countries, we can only select US residents to be winners of the game jam. However, we're sure to receive a lot of great games from the jam that we may want to offer non-exclusive licenses to, which are open to non-US residents.

Hi 31math62! Cybersecurity sounds like a great topic to teach!

Hi MarySue! We would recommend steering away from document forging/bribes that could be enticing to the player as that is a bit of a darker and more mature subject.

Hi Stand Gaming LLC! Games that have light combat are suitable for our audience. As you mentioned, we do have tower defense games on our site and we also have some games that have RPG combat and platformers that have light fighting mechanics to defeat enemies. Admittedly, Awesome Tanks 2 is an older game that we licensed years ago and today, would probably not have licensed.

We avoid games that explicitly mention death or use mature weapons such as guns/bullets.

Hi Jroxic Studios! It really depends on how educational the puzzles are that the player has to solve. However, an entry like this would not be disqualified from the jam.

Hi RadioCat! We're sorry to hear about this, can you please send a screenshot of what you are seeing when you try to submit your game?

Hi MochiPopGames! Please resubmit your game with a playable game. We understand reserving a space in the jam, we would just not want the game submission to redirect to a 404 page. It's okay if the game you submit is not fully functional or working correctly at this time, as judging will start after June 7. You can also update your game as many times as you like before the jam ends.

Hi all! Our financial literacy games are aimed towards teaching high-school level financial literacy courses. We want our games to be accessible to a variety of audiences and our general audience is very diverse. We hope this helps answer your questions!

Hi JoeDaFarmer! All games will be judged by our product team and we will determine the 3 winners. There will be no community voting.

Hi flamewolf14! We only allow one submission per user for this game jam.

Hi RadioCat! Yes, that does qualify. We would recommend not mentioning death too heavily in the game if possible

Hi Seth Maupin! You can absolutely continue working on your game after the jam has ended. Please wait until the results of the jam are announced before uploading your game to another site.

We would recommend waiting until the results of the jam are announced as games that are selected as winners have the chance of becoming exclusive to Coolmath Games' financial literacy games collection.

Hi Game-Wolf Studios! Yes, you can use royalty-free music so long as you credit it :)

Hi AngeloDev! We try to avoid the use of the word "crap" in our games. If your game is selected as a winner, we would want that line to be edited.

Hi 31math62! Please refrain from posting the game on Scratch until the game jam is over.

Hi Beautiful Mind Games! Yes you can set your game to play in fullscreen mode for the jam. However, please keep in mind that the games that will go on our site need to be playable without requiring users to go fullscreen.

Hi spooncats! The example you provided would still be acceptable :)

Hi SirLich! As stated in the rules, you can use assets not made by you or your team so long as you have obtained the proper license for them. The line in our detailed rules is meant to apply to the rule on the itch.io page. So long as you have the license to use the assets or they are open source, your game will not be disqualified from the jam. We apologize for the confusion!

Hi OzBit! The US-only rule only applies to games that are selected as the winners of the game jam. We still encourage developers outside of the US to participate in the jam. We're sure we'll get a lot of great games from this jam and while we can't select them all to be the top 3 winners, there is a possibility to still work with us on a nonexclusive license for the game if it closely aligns with the theme.

Hi mikkimat81539! All games for the jam must be hosted on an itch.io page.

Hi Ninjasshadow123! Since you have a permanent US address, you do qualify as a US resident for the contest.

Hi Space Cat Studio! Yes, you can still participate in the jam!

Hi all, thank you for creating this thread. We apologize for the confusion and would like to clarify.

When you submit a game to this game jam, we DO NOT take ownership of the game. Developers will still maintain all ownership of their games. When we select our 3 winners, we intend to promote those games on our financial literacy page and there will be a conversation of getting exclusivity for it. However, games that are not selected as winners are still the property of the developers.

This portion of the rules is meant to use the games as a way to promote and celebrate the creations from the game jam. When a game is submitted and it abides by our rules, your game will be featured in the Submissions on our game page. We own the submission of the game used in the jam, but this does NOT mean the games become our property. We have no intention of retrieving the source code from the games or taking control of the game's IP in any way.

We hope this helps clear up some confusion regarding the statement.

Hi Beautiful Mind Games! Our jam deadline was originally meant for June 5, but we did update this recently to allow more time for developers so it got extended for June 7. We will be updating the deadlines mentioned in our assets soon to reflect the change. We apologize for the confusion!

Hi pythondeveloper, looks like we messed up our previous comment, our apologies!

We meant to say that we strongly advise NOT including gambling content in your game as it is a mature subject.

Hi J-Productions! While that is a very sweet thought, we unfortunately wouldn't be able to have the prize be sent to someone who is not a part of the competition.

Hi pythondeveloper! We would strongly advise against including gambling content in the game as that is a mature subject. Sorry for the miscommunication!

Hi Lemon! The weapons you have described are acceptable :) We do not allow guns with bullets or rifles.

Hi flyngsam! The no AI-generated content is to prevent any AI-generated assets within the game including art, writing, sound, and code.

Hi Riversphere! If referring to a death, we would really want to ensure that the actual words "death," "dead," or "dying" are not shown in the game. You can imply a character being eliminated or knocked out, we strongly advise referencing death in the games.

Hi SM Toukir Ahmmed! The game jam is open to developers outside of the US to submit games, it's just that US residents will only be selected to win the prize due to varying contest laws in other countries. If you submit a game that is very polished and aligns with the theme, we may reach out to license the game separately since that will not interfere with any contest laws.

Hi DragonDaGameDev! We are primarily looking for games that fit within our financial literacy collection. However, we do not want to discourage developers who may have other interpretations! You may not win the main prizes, but we have mentioned to other developers that if the game is really polished and well done, we could offer a non-exclusive licensing opportunity with the developer.

Hi catharticnation! We are primarily against graphic, mature violence. We do have games on our site that have basic combat or RPG combat systems implemented. So long as the violence is not gratuitous, graphic and mature, we can allow basic combat systems.

Hi MrBrokeIt! We are primarily against graphic, mature violence. We do have games on our site that have basic combat or RPG combat systems implemented. So long as the violence is not gratuitous, graphic and mature, we can allow basic combat systems.

Hello, game devs! Thank you so much for joining our game jam, we can't wait to see what you'll create!

The game jam theme is now LIVE! Show us how you break the bank in your game!

Hi iDoGameDev! The contest is 13+, but entrants under 18 will require parent authorization.

When you submit your game for the jam, you will be asked to input your parent's email address for authorization.
