you have to make sure that you are in driving mode by pressing tab, and that your accelerator is fixed.

i wasnt sure what i was supposed to do, enemies had no feedback upon hit, and i fell through the world and didnt come back when i respawned. 

dear god this was difficult. A tiny tap on the button would send my guy flying almost always to his death. very frustrating how difficult to control it was.
