Thanks so much for the detailed comment! I'm glad you enjoyed the entry so much. This is the first game I've ever made that truly felt like a complete and polished product that I (and other people) actually find fun. While I've made other projects, I feel like this is the first GAME I've made and it feels good to see that people like you are just having fun and enjoying what I made.
Tried really hard in the first zone, took a while but finally got it. Thought it was moving onto the final boss or whatever and once I saw the second zone I quit lol. The first zone was a cool concept and beatable. The hex apples didn't make any sense at all, I only saw it meant hexadecimal from other comments. Good game over all, but a little too difficult imo lol
I think I would have preferred if the customer requests were static and not dynamic like you have it. I would've liked to have been made to wander around the yard to look for the perfect combination of available ingredients instead of getting potions requests that I have no way of making.
But the game was cool, I like the 3D world and I liked how you would add additional effects to the base potions.
Great little click-timing game! I had fun. My thoughts on the project:
Bad:
The sounds you used were a little too harsh if that makes sense. For a game about drinking tea I'd expect nice soft, soothing sounds but it was all really harsh and loud gulps, glasses slamming on the counter, etc. The music also was too loud to start. I had to take my headphones off while I got to the sound settings.
Good:
The visuals were very nice and clean, loved it.
The gameplay was fun, I jumped to the hardest level and got 3 stars and it was fun having to focus on all of the glasses and react quickly.
The menu's, UI, etc. were all done very nice.
The controls were simple and reactive which let me focus on having fun
Overall great job! The sounds were the only real negative for me, but even then they did fit the game so it wasn't a big deal at all.
I'm not sure why that is! I had several times when I just had the game running that the game would stop playing the music. But it wouldn't happen often and there were times where I could have it up and running for a long time and it never stop the music. Gotta be something weird with the signaling.
Thanks for the kind words!!! I'm glad you enjoyed it so much.
I appreciate the kind response! I will say again, I was very interested in your game and I really wanted to learn it. You really can tell you guys put a ton of effort in. I'll likely go back to it just to see if I can figure things out just because I think it would be cool to know all of these little science tricks to make the potions.
The game is cool! The first go around I was just taking orders and thinking I was on top of the world and then i lost because I wasn't actually making any drinks. Then I figured out how to actually play the game. I think I would have preferred a little onboarding because it was confusing and I almost gave up on the game without even seeing the brewing minigames which were nice! I know you wanted to keep it like an old retro game with the pdf. Also having A/B buttons like retro consoles, but not using those for the actual controls was a little confusing and I kept pressing the wrong buttons when trying to interact with things, but eventually got the hang of it and was doing fine.
Looked at the in-demand potions, strategized my ingredients based on demand, brewed all of my potions, had a nice spread, went to selling and then clicked "Next Day" thinking it was what progressed the text. They didn't want my potions on that day. Maybe a confirmation before you get to go to the next day? Either way the concept was cool and I liked the strategy aspect.
