you can use the halo from the start. Like a free column except you cannot take them back from halo so you need to be careful.

What about -

- drag y4 (yellow 4th column) to halo

- y4 to g1

- g1 to b4 -- the blue square piece.

- now drag all 4 of those pieces to the halo also to join with the yellow piece already there

- fairly sure with some shifting the rest could be solvable.

--- you would then have the following in the halo

Amazing - I remember having a discussion with a mate on what would the "office" world look like if the computers we used were all based on cartridges' - and plug in various office apps nintendo/sega cartridge styles ... 

You have now realized that dream   hah

Thanks jpop - nothing special just drawn pixel by pixel in pico-8 - I surprised even myself 8)

This was awesome. The music and the clear readout on the side - hit it out of the park. I have to learn to do more with music in pico as I didn't realize pico could sound that crisp.

The powerups are meaty - The bosses are really good and challenging but not to challenging

Really polished - well the 1st mission - but I was reading your code and how you have set it all up sounds like you have a really awesome framework to do the other missions.

Mission 1 is super fun and awesome variety of landscape.

thanks. Yeah I wanted to expand the music more but could never get into the mode to do it.  It’s a bit random but yeah I liked the galloping bass drive while playing so it stuck.   

Superb game - I think I commented on the discord but ill leave something here also.

  • Really polished and the look and feel all work well together.
  • The intro, credits and high score screens are really great.
  • The missile is really well animated and juicy
  • Sound and music great and well created and integrated.
  • Nice original takes on cherrybomb enemy attacks and original enemy attack's also.
  • I like how the enemies regroup after an attack back to their position.

Something else I noticed playing again  - not quite sure how you got the triangle enemy to animate turning side to side with the sin wave attack so smoothly .. Ill have to think how that could be done.  Super cool touch though.

Wow really different - The sounds really sell the western theme really well.

Great Intro - That is a Start screen!

Space Pizza forever - I love the floater use.

The bombs also cool to use - maybe an achievement/bonus system like 10 pin bowling (score a strike/spare/split) - I only say this because I managed to take out an entire wave with a well placed triple bomb - hah.

I really enjoyed this. 

  • lol I only realized you had wrap around sides at the last boss.
  • I really like your balance with your pickups - you need them and you need to use them also. Cherry bomb does suffer from not encouraging you to use your bombs - but your game is great at this. Nice and simple but well balanced.
  • Great variety of enemy movement. The level gets pretty chaotic by level 4 with all sorts going on. I loved it.
  • Nice simple but satisfying bosses.
  • I would like to see more levels - they feel really meaty - I like the individual enemies spliced between waves of various sorts.
  • Your enemy bullets look really good. - I know a weird thing but they look really good, clear and well animated.
  • Maybe an upgrade to your weapon?

Great game -  Im actually not fond of bullet hells but yours - with your music - was really zen like   ... great little game. played many times.

At first the wave mode seemed so similar BUT wow the arcade mode is where it is at. That is really cool. You should concentrate on that mode.

I enjoyed all the combinations of powerups - really good variety - its quite strategic picks also -- reminds me of the mobile game Hoplite

Great theme - I freakin love star trek.

The borg "pico8" colours work really well.

You really did a good job on the music and the LCARS look.. love it

I wasnt quite sure what the borg infested enterprise ships did - they dont seem as threatening -- are you supposed to let them go / save them?


It would be interesting to play with the idea of a slow ship a bit more.

Hah just when I thought the bullets couldnt go faster -- they went faster!

I enjoyed this -- few things I noted. just quick..

  • It good you have a reason to not just keep your finger on the fire button. overheating mechanic is a good idea.
  • It seems the pickups wont occur if you already have a pickup power. Took me a while to realize this and use your pickup powers ASAP as otherwise you wont get any other pickups. There is kind a tendency to hold on to the multi-shot until you need it  .. I think you could make it activate straight away as it removes the flow of the pickups. or if not have a little tutorial text on first level to say don't hold onto pickup powers too long
  • The drone was a cool smart bomb like idea.
  • The waves a well done - Each enemy has there own way of moving through the screen and they reset to the top by the looks of it. A really good simple wave system.
  • There seems to be an odd thing with the hitbox of the green beam shooting aliens -- it feels like every other bullet misses or something.. its odd.. but shooting that thing somehow feels different from the others. 
  • The green dive bombing alien that then goes in circle feels a little unfair.. you certainly learn to not be in the middle on the levels that those aliens are there. Maybe an arrow or something to indicate they are coming? then they could divebomb any part of the screen fairly to the player (they got to look out for indicator).
  • The boss was very cool. Cool art and Great phases to work through. Not crazy challenging but felt like a good boss level effort to overcome. Im jealous.. my boss is not coming along well 8( - The health bar also cool

This is great. Good enemy variety. I got some things I noted if you like .. Boss was cool. Ill leave some other things i noted on the basic shmup page..

This is awesome. I really like the wave design and the starbase is so good.

One thing about the pickups though .. They seem really rare which is ok but going sideways can feel really annoying especially when killing an enemy close to edge to have pickup disappear off screen 0.2 seconds later. Could maybe still go sideways (for extra risk in getting them) but always go the max distance to side of screen maybe (so if dropped on left goes to right and on right goes to left etc).

But why not petunias on L2 with the Whale? "Oh no not again"? 8)

-- also awesome that you put a reason to not press fire all the time. That was one I've been thinking about.
