Hey! Thanks so much for giving it a try. If you're stuck, the main trick is to look at the notebook and match the storyteller's tale to the documents. Here is a little breakdown:

  • 1st Number: The performer asks about their name. Connect this to the first tape with Angel, and check the files to find her real name.
  • 2nd Number: The fisherman asks about the monster's mouths. This connects to the Pathrose tape, think about what 'mouths' could mean in that story, and maybe give the tape one more listen.
  • 3rd Number: The ghost boy asks how many years he walked in the sun (basically his age). See if you can figure out who the ghost boy is from the remaining files.
  • 4th Number: This asks where the monster took its first breath (birth). Using process of elimination with the files, find the one that connects to the last tape and read it carefully. The question is WHERE .Hope this helps point you in the right direction! Let me know if you manage to crack it

Hell yeah, glad the reading actually managed to creep you out! And massive props on figuring out the passcode . Appreciate you checking it out.

Thanks a lot! I'm glad the puzzle worked out that way for you. Half the mystery is digging through those documents and finding all the hidden threads connecting the stories. Really appreciate you taking the time to play and read through it all.

First off, huge props for solving that puzzle,my Reddit inbox has been flooded with people asking for hints, so I'm genuinely impressed you cracked it! To answer your question: nope, interacting with the box is the official end of the game. But there is a lot of hidden lore left to piece together. The title 'redstring' is a hint to connect the dots between all 4 tapes and to find out what the red string is .There are quite a lot of easter eggs to the actual truth of the world too hidden here and there. Also, a little tip for the black box: One of the things you found inside the black box is the two paper clipping s.those two paper clipping that seem totally disconnected are actually verses from the Book of Enoch. I'll let you theorize on what that means! Thanks a lot for playing. Glad you enjoyed it :)

Really loved the atmosphere in this. The best part for me was definitely how interactive it is. With a lot of VNs it's so easy to just half-mindedly click through the text, but the UI stuff here completely changes game. Made it feel way more immersive and keeps you on your toes. That cliffhanger at the end is brutal though! Really hoping to see more of the story soon.

Thanks so much for checking it out! I definitely got a bit carried away with the writing on the first tape haha. but I appreciate the feedback. Glad you liked the concept!

Really liked this one. The dialogue is very well written. For whatever reason, it kept giving me Higurashi deja vu while I was playing ,I know they are quite different, but it just gave me that exact vibe. Great job with this!

Hey! This is my entry for the jam. If you find an interactive analog horror mystery interesting, please check it out. I'd love to hear what you thought of it, and I'd also love to check out your game,   -https://thearchivist13.itch.io/red-string
