That's the life !

Super nice take on the card game genre ! I loved picking my cards by shooting at them, it forces you to really think fast and in accordance with what the enemy is about to play.

Bit more in depth feedback:

  • I don't think the manual driving in the world map is necessary, especially since you have a branching system where the options are forced onto the player anyway. It is fun to shoot on the tumbleweeds though.
  • If you do keep the manual driving, I would rework the controls, feels too much like driving a truck right now.
  • I think you can push the "shoot your cards" system even further. I would have loved if I got some kind of bonus when shooting my cards super fast.
  • The card order system (my card, then enemy card and so on) is really great and what makes the "shoot your cards" system so interesting, because you have to think in which order you must shoot them. The only thing I didn't really like is that opponents cards kept playing after their death. Feels like death should impact the remaining cards in some way.
  • The shop is a bit confusing, I didn't understand that the prices were matching the number on the card.

There's a definitely a future for this game if you keep working on it :D

Thanks a lot for playing ! Glad you liked it :)

Yes, but I used spaces and "-" in my name, could be related ?

Ahah yeah, I didn't have good motricity enough in my left hand to move forward + jump, so using my right was necessary for me x)

Slick twist and controllers. I really didn't expect it but it makes so much sense. Jumping is hard but if you use your right hand for the space bar it becomes easier :)

Unfortunately I got stuck on the loading screen at the end of the game :(

Huge work ! Me and my teammates actually had a very similar idea but deemed it would be too ambitious for the jam. Great that you pulled it out !

Love the visual, and the music is slick !

The only bad thing I could say about it is that I had a hard time pressing the Z key in the right tempo. Having a louder music with very noticeable tempo for these phases would help a lot :)

Thanks ! I love how everyone mentions at what age they got potty trained, it'll never stop being funny xD

Thank you !

Thank you for playing ! Glad you liked it :)

I think it was a mix of multiple small things:

  • I was playing with keyboard and mouse. The dash being on the number key, it was a bit awkward to perform mid air.
  • There's a slight delay when performing inputs. But maybe that's from playing the web version
  • Hitbox of the skeleton might be slightly too wide

Thank you for playing :)

Yes that is exactly the intent ! Your strategy in the game should be to gather good stats which will help you have more chance at succeeding activities, which will give you slickness, more stats or perks !

Unfortunately, we were a bit short on time so we couldn't properly balance all the cards, and because of that this feature is not super well represented :/

It's a shame you were soft locked and didn't reach the end of the game, we have implemented plenty of ways to die :D

Finally I get to experience what being a slick skeleton is.

Really cool visuals and nice atmosphere. Not gonna lie, the platforming is haaaard. But fun nonetheless.

Hey,  thanks a lot for the review. We're really proud on what we produced, especially since we all have daily work and had to work on the game in our free time.

We might not win the jam, given that balance is jank, quite a few bugs and missing some hooks as you grow older, but we definitely do see a future for the game ! The backbone is there, it's just a matter of content and polish now :)

Thanks a lot for playing and giving your detailed feedback !

PS: the "downward facing hand" is a sunglasses icon, to represent slickness :p

That's exactly what we had in mind when making the game ! Thanks for playing :D

Thanks, we truly appreciate :)

Thank you ! Glad you liked it :)

Thanks !

Hey, thank you for playing and reporting that bug, we'll have a look :)

Stats do matters when calculating odds of various outcomes on cards ! For example you have less chance of getting bullied when picking the "Go to school" card if you've got high constitution and low intelligence :p

Thank you for playing ! Glad that you liked the game :D Also the potty training card doesn't go away until you succeed at it, it's not a bug, it's a feature :p
