Hi sorry about this, I’ve figured out the issue and will release a fix asap. In the meantime, the app should work offline if you turn off your internet. It happened because I changed my itchio username, so the version check is failing in a way I didn’t expect.

NOTICE: Please update to the latest version if you are experiencing a crash upon starting the program, an issue with changing my itchio username and the code checking the latest version has been fixed

I’m sorry you’re having issues. Please email me we’ll see if we can sort it out stimuwrite@eveharms.com

Thank you! Nothing dramatic, I just decided to take it down because it’s another site to manage and I already have my itchio page, a bunch of social media profiles, and eveharms.com

Thanks!

ah, I’m sorry you weren’t able to get it to work! If you like, you can email me your theme files and I’ll take a look :) stimuwrite@eveharms.com

Hello! I'm sorry you are having issues with the program. Please try this:

1. Navigate to the StimuWrite user data folder in your computer

Windows: %APPDATA%\Godot\app_userdata\StimuWrite\
macOS: ~/Library/Application Support/Godot/app_userdata/StimuWrite/
Linux:  ~/.local/share/godot/app_userdata/StimuWrite/

2. Delete the file stimuwrite.cfg and the addons folder (if there is one )

3. Start StimuWrite

Let me know if this fixes the issue.

That's a great idea, thank you!

Ah, sorry I just saw this. Which file/theme are you trying to load? That error message means that StimuWrite can't recognize it as a theme or addon and something is wrong with it.

Hi Morb! You have to install it through the StimuWrite app, it won't work automatically with the itchio app. Make sure the base StimuWrite app is already installed and then follow the instructions below:

To Install:

Download the theme pack into your file system (you may have to log into the itch.io website instead of the app to download)

In StimuWrite version 2 and above, click the "Options" link button at the bottom of the writing panel next to "About"

    Select "Install Themes & Add-ons"

Click "Install Theme or Add-on" button and select the theme file in your file folder

That's it! Your new themes will appear in the Theme dropdown

To delete the theme pack after installation: If you are uninstalling StimuWrite and want to make sure the themes are removed from your computer, make sure to go to Options > Advanced Settings > Delete All. This will delete all StimuWrite content from your harddrive.

Please let you me know if you have any more issues, and thank you for getting the theme pack!

oh I’m so glad to hear that! Thank you for letting me know :)

Hi! So I did publish a template on github with instructions on how to make your own theme but haven't really publicized it yet because it's a work in progress. If you want to give it a try, feel free and feel free to reach out to me (stimuwrite@eveharms.com) for support during the process.  https://github.com/beastly-eve/stimuwrite-theme-template

Hi Alex! Unfortunately, I don't believe there is at this time. However, StimuWrite is meant for drafting instead of editing so you could use Grammarly in whatever word processor you export your text into.

Great job on this really cool and inventive writing app!

I’ll reach out to you on discord

I’m so glad to hear you find it helpful!

These are fantastic, thank you!

Haha. I'll see what I can do!

An update has been released to fix this bug, please let me know if the latest (2.1.1) version is working for you. Thank again for your help!

I ended up finding the bug, so I don't think I need them anymore. I'll get a new version up very soon. Thank you so much for letting me know about this issue!

Oh no! That's so weird, sorry about that. Here's a link to download the old versions of 2 until I can figure out this bug - https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fo/xjkk6u7h1j1zxfnyo8y8c/h?rlkey=q0d7aec5g94n4x81w9et6lk6q&dl=0

Do you mind letting me know what OS you are using? And if possible could you send me any files in the "log" folder in this location in your file system to help me debug this? I can't replicate it on my end for some reason.

Windows %APPDATA%\Godot\app_userdata\StimuWrite\

macOS: ~/Library/Application Support/Godot/app_userdata/StimuWrite/

Linux:  ~/.local/share/godot/app_userdata/StimuWrite/

I've created a custom theme template and documentation for it, and put it on github. Give it a try if you like. You'll be a bit of a guinea pig here as it's a work in progress and you'll be one of the first people to use it https://github.com/beastly-eve/stimuwrite-theme-template

Hehe good timing! Please let me know if it’s working better for you when you get a chance to try it again

Hello, please try the latest version to see if it works on your computer, it has been updated to be compatible with more machines. Thank you!

Hello! Please try the updated version to see if it runs better on your computer. I recommend turning overlapping sounds off in advanced settings for even better performance.

Hi! It's mostly under the hood changes to make the app faster, more stable, and compatible with more machines but there are a few features and bug fixes you can read about here https://eveharms.itch.io/stimuwrite/devlog/620466/stimuwrite-21-is-faster-more-s...

Thank you so much! I’m delighted

It’s an issue on a some computers but I’m releasing an update soon that will improve performance and compatibility and should fix this issue. Stay tuned!

Further emoji and background customization are features I’m definitely considering! I’m not sure about custom sounds though

i love that idea! Thank you

I’m planning on releasing a free template that people can open and edit in Godot to make their own themes, but i have to finish the iOS and Android versions first. Hopefully soon.

As for open sourcing it, that will probably never happen because it will add more work (project management, code refactoring, support, and administrative work) that I don’t have the time and energy for. I have to be able to work on the project at my own pace for it to be sustainable.

Thank you for letting me know, I’m so glad you like it!

I'm so glad the app has been a help! I will look into adding more emoji options

Thank you so much for sharing this lovely story, it makes me so happy to hear and to imagine the room full of StimuWrite sounds!!! 💜

This is in the works! Hopefully soon

Muhahahahah!!

Thank you!

I'm so glad it's been helpful!

Unfortunately that's not possible at this time but it's a feature I will probably add in the next version.
