I would love if the enemies had an HP bar to make it a little clearer how much more damage they need to take. Good start to a game!

Does not run very well on browser, but otherwise looks pretty okay. SFX aren't working and you have to hold down right click the whole time to aim. Not terrible.

Welcome to FINAL HIGHWAY, a text-based survival/rpg rougelike entirely played in the command line!

Final Highway by Tetrid Studios

Final Highway takes place in a post-apocalyptic America, where the player is tasked with driving nearly 4000 miles across the country from Washington State to Miami. Scavenge items, cars, and more to survive the brutal trip across a completely silent wasteland. Final Highway's very first version is out now! It is still in development, with lots of content in the works. So stay tuned and provide feedback to make it the best game that it can be!

From the Dev: Final Highway, while ultimately a game, is more of a tech demo or simulation than anything. I wanted to make a project that could be put on resumes as something very echnically advanced rather than a super fun or interesting game. Just thought I'd let you know that.

Sorry for the 4 month hiatus everyone, I've been working on major improvements to Crowsedge, massively changing and adding to the map! The game's main storyline is now completed, allowing you to play through the game largely as intended. This includes the addition of several new areas around the map that significantly expand on the lore of the game. The update now only needs polishing and a few more bits of content to be added in. Expect a release soon!

Additonally, with the completion of the main storyline, i've begun work on the alternative endings and side stories that also will be in the final release. I will likely move the game from alpha into beta during this time, after a few more future updates!

Thank you to everyone who's kept up, and i'm excited to show you all what's next!

Thank you very much for the though review, it literally helps me out so much. I actually have been pondering the exact same things you brought up, mainly about gameplay and the story.

Gameplay: I’m trying to strike a balance between giving the player too much information and not enough information. I want there to be a sense of genuine exploration, without just telling the player “go here”. I’m working on a new update that is going to add much more clarity and direction to help the player understand what they need to do.

Story: I’m also working on a new system to improve the story. I have a lot of ideas and i’m trying to figure out the best way to accomplish this. I know i need more notes, but that only goes so far. I’m going to be adding in a very extensive voice log system into the game in an update very soon, which i’m hoping will fill in the gaps you mentioned. Not to spoil too much, but they’ll all be recorded by Jacob Caldwell himself.  Also, big thing, i’m going to try and kill two birds with one stone here and make the lore also act as direction for the player. That makes it so collecting voice tapes isn’t just a tacked on side mechanic, it’s an integral part of the game and it makes players WANT to find pieces of lore because they might add a new marker on their map, a new way to use a tool, etc.

Again, thank you very much for the honest feedback, and i’d absolutely love if you’d play the future updates to continue to give stellar feedback!

Thank you for playing!

I made a video talking about my history as a game developer, and also about how I made the game your looking at right now! Theres some pretty juicy behind the scenes content, so take a look if your interested! Thank you for playing CROWSEDGE

Yes, the map is definitely incomplete. I’m working on fixing it as we speak. There will possibly be a better map/gps item in the future that lets you see your live location but i’ve had issues getting it to work correctly. Thanks for the feedback!

I know we're a bit late to notice, but we wanted to thank Burd anyway! Thank you for sharing our game and we are excited to see your involvement with future versions of our game! This is a great motivator for us to put in even more effort and hard work! Building a community is the best part of making a game, and we're exited to see ours's begin to form!

Good art, good environment, overall pretty good. I would like to see some variety of gameplay, maybe some different mechanics involving the dimension change (Objects only existing in certain dimensions). Otherwise, just keep up the good work, I like the concept and can see this becoming a pretty solid game.

Honestly, I love the visual style. Super unique, super trippy, super awesome. I will say, I was pretty lost playing it, but with a little work this could be really fun. The only other major issue is that it's super unoptimized. The rain, the shaders, and everything else makes it have really bad frame rates, even on a RTX 3070. Great job though!
