Oh, if you do make a devlog, I would love to see it! I will follow you on itch, if you make some kind of announcement for the devlog I will surely watch it

Hi, here is my review!
I'm not a fan of the "no instructions, figure it out yourself approach". While it was funny, I was really lost at the start
Now for the good stuff: THE MUSIC IS AMAZING! I like it a LOT. And the overall game play (once I got the hang of it) was fun and felt rewarding
Overall, nice game! Btw I would appreciate it if you could rate my project :)
Thank you for the review!
Unfortunately the web build seems to have bugs that weren't present when I was working on the game locally. It's the first time this happened to me so I will make sure to test out the web build extensively on my next jams.
If you could help me out a bit, do you imagine levels working for this game? Right now I'm debating if I should continue the project mainly because right now the game can be beaten in 3 minutes and I'm struggling to see a path forward. I only had 5 days for this game so the game loop is extremely simple...
Nice game! I LOVE the sound design! Truly the best I've seen in any jam I did so far. Can I ask what you used, or if you have any recommendations? I often struggle with original music in my games and I just resort to using loops (that I have licenses for ofc). I would love to learn how to do full track by myself.
Honestly in the first minute of the game I wasn't sure how the theme is relevant, but then it hit me. Again, amazing game!
I would also appreciate it if you could rate my project if you found some time :)
Oh thank god you added checkpoints later on, I was so close to throwing my laptop out the window...in other words you succeeded at making an annoyingly hard game ;). I like that despite a simple art style the game-play is so good and immersive, you just forget about anything else. Maybe one thing I would suggest is to make the music file longer. You had a pretty short song that, when looped, quickly became annoying. On the other hand annoyance is the core of the game like that so maybe it's good?
Overall, I like your project! I would also appreciate if you would rate mine :)
It kinda reminds me of an old mobile game called something along the lines of "the hardest game", where the traps constantly appeared unexpectedly and you needed to remember the layout to win. I think the main issue I run into is that the 3rd spikes appear super quickly and they often killed me before I could even see them.
Overall, nice prototype. I would also appreciate it if you could rate my game :)
A simple concept, but it's not a bad thing. The projectiles don't travel too far before disappearing, making you need to move a lot. This makes the game super hard because instead of firing a gun you essentially have a sword and need to move closer to the enemies. I would also add some music for some feeling of more action.
Overall I enjoyed it. I think it's a great base for a nice short game. I would also appreciate if you could rate my project :)
I think it's just very well thought through! I thought it was game over for me when i ran out of granades but I was happy to see random mines being present. I would add some music and maybe some variation to the sound effects, there was a lot of them and after a while I found them pretty annoying.
Also, maybe I'm misunderstanding but you said you made a game engine during the jam? If so, super impressive but I have some doubts on how possible it is.
Overall, nice project! I would also appreciate if you could rate mine!
I really liked your game! If if could give some feedback, I think the design of your "walls" doesn't indicate that you can pass through them. There are many snake implementations and in many of them if you hit a wall you die. Because the edges of the walls are different color, i thought that I would die if I run into them 😅.
Still, I really like your implementation of the theme as well as the art style!
I would also appreciate if you could rate my project :)
Here is my game, i would appreciate all feedback!: https://itch.io/jam/stop-killing-games-game-jam/rate/3740437
Hi, thanks for the review! I made the player control the retraction to give more control of how far you want it to go. Now that I think about it making it retract if an object is caught isn't a bad idea overall.
I have a question about the bug though, many people reported it but I cannot seem to replicate it for myself. Was there a specific thing you did before the bug happened?
Hi, here is my review:
THE GOOD
I really like the music and the atmosphere it builds. The backgrounds while AI, are still very pretty and I like that you disclosed it. Overall i think it's a simple idea, but sometimes simplicity is the best
POSSIBLE IMPROVEMENTS
The character animation isn't full and it's not synced well with the movement speed, making it feel like the character is moving slower then it should. Also while the backgrounds itself are pretty, they aren't super immersive (as in they don't feel like part of the level). I think it would also be nice if there was a more defined environment instead of floating platforms.
TLDR
I think it's a good prototype, but there is still work to be done for it to be a great game. Definitely achievable though!
Btw, I would also apprentice if you took your time to look at my own project :)
Hi, unfortunately i run into many issues. Some more general ones are that the characters are hard to see because they are so small, same thing about the UI. I'm not sure what the read and blue bars are for. I would assume that the red bar is for health, but you die with one hit anyway so I'm not sure about it's point. Also after you die the retry menu isn't scaling properly and after retying I cannot move the character without completely reloading the page first.
I would love to try out the game more because the lack of in-air control presents a unique, though kinda nerve-wracking challenge, but its hard for me to play the game in its current state. Good luck on further development!
In every jam, feedback is the most important part. I don't see a topic like that on our community page so here it is: If your game has below 5 ratings, please feel free to post it here. I (and hopefully many others) will do my best to rate it and give you feedback!
I would also appreciate if you could give me some feedback on my project: https://itch.io/jam/stop-killing-games-game-jam/rate/3740437
Thank you very much!!!
The self-teaching element was really important for me and I'm really glad that you noticed and liked it. I still need to make some more improvements as some people were confused by the melters, but I think that it's heading in the right direction.
For the ball movement, others suggested making it so the player can control the ball from anywhere on the screen and I think that it will make the steering much easier and allow for more interesting levels (as I needed to compromise on how hard some levels were as the ball wasn't the easiest to control)
I think the reason why the music restart felt weird is because of otherwise seamless transition between tracks on different levels. I made 9 different tracks with the same chord progressions and made them continue where the previous one left off when switching the level (so it's like the same music playing but a new instrument added on each level). Unfortunately I run out of time to make the music during restarts as seamless as it otherwise is, so it might have been especially noticeable. Still, thank you for reporting that!
I think this might have been the most positive feedback I received during this jam, thank you very much!!!
Thanks! Unfortunately I didn't have the time to make the option button actually display the settings haha. I will make sure to add it though. The ball physics will need to be surely improve, but for now I honestly have no clue what's causing the issues unfortunately. I already fixed the music overlap but thanks for reporting! It turned out that I had 2 music players trying to do the same thing xd
