Wow, what an amazing and calming experience. I feel like I could idly fish in this game for hours. Real classy work, devs. And what a unique name, too!

(1 edit)

Hey everyone - Charles from Team TreeFish here. We just finished the first playable demo of CONSUMO, the game we’re working on. It’s a plaformer where you play as a cook who feeds adventurers while they do battle in the dungeon. The adventurers fight the monsters in real time (think MMO combat like WoW or FFXIV) and you must platform through the dungeon, prepare and carry ingredients, cook meals, and then throw them to the adventurers.

Here’s the player standing next to his boss: the Old Chef. He’ll show you the ropes.

Gameplay

The first thing we developed were the platforming systems. In CONSUMO, you can hold item in both your hands. Each is mapped to their own buttons. Pressing the button again will drop what you hold, and if you move it’ll throw the item in that direction. You can also hold down a button to lock in place and aim your throws with precision. Gameplay revolves around gathering the ingredients you need, preparing them, and throwing them into pots to cook. Then, when they’re just right, you’ll grab them from the pot and throw them to the adventurer.

Different ingredients will modify the adventurers stats in different ways. For instance, meat will heal, vegetables will boost defense, and fish will boost attack. Throwing a whole ingredient into a pot will boil that ingredient and make it edible, but if you first prepare ingredients at the chopping table, three can be cooked together to make meals that include multiple boosts! Just be careful, raw food will hurt the adventurers! Try your best to use both hands and always have something cooking!

This rogue needs some tasty treats to avoid a grisly fate.

Feedback

Releasing a game for a bunch of people to play is scary, isn’t it? But what we’d love most of all is your feedback! Is the game fun? Do the mechanics work? What do you like? What do you not like? Please let us know here or on the game page! There are already changes we’re wanting to implement, including making this demo a little bit easier. I must have played this demo 1,000 times and I thought it was the easiest game ever made, so I tried to up the challenge a bit. I may have gone too far; for most new players the game seems pretty tough! Please let us know about that, too!

We’d really appreciate if you took time to give our game a shot, and even more if you’d give us some feedback. If you’d like to email instead, send us a mail at teamtreefish@gmail.com

Here is CONSUMO’s itch page. Currently we’re windows only, but we want to make the game available to as many platforms as possible. For any installation questions or issues, check the itch page or send us a message.
