1. Hi there! What's your name? Want to introduce yourself?
I'm Trenton, and I'm interested in getting into game dev. I've got experience with coding and audio (I'm a musician), but I want to learn more about game art.

2. Did you participate in the last jam we held? If so, what do you plan on doing better this time? If not, what's your reason for joining?

This is my first time. I want to motivate myself to "finish" a project, even if it's a small prototype.

3. What games are your favorites? Did any of them inspire you, or made you want to make your own?

Inspirations: Undertale (music), Paper Mario series (story & gameplay), Hyper Light Drifter (art & music), Stardew Valley (art), Thimbleweed Park (art),  Sunless Sea (story)

4. Do you have experience with game development? What did you do/with what engine?

I have dabbled in GMS2 and Unity. I made a breakout/pong mashup for a previous game jam — that's my only finished project. I also wrote a chess engine in Java, so that's kinda like a game?

5. Tell us about something you're passionate about!

I'm passionate about telling stories, especially ones that have a positive impact on people and can start an important conversation.

6. What are your goals for this game jam?

Make something playable, beatable, and fun!

7. Any advice to new jammers (if you're a veteran)?

From my "experience" in one previous game jam, these are good opportunities to pinpoint gaps in your knowledge + skills — and fill them! The last (and only other, lmao) game jam I entered also helped em develop a game-making workflow, and I'm transitioning from "what does this button do" to prototyping a game fairly quickly.

8. If you're a returning jammer, what can the admins do to improve your jam experience?

N/A

Thanks! I didn't have time to implement multiplayer + power-up indicators since this is a game jam entry, but that's on my list.

Hi all! I'm working solo on a game that looks like Breakout, but you're up against an AI paddle on the other side of the board. You collect power-ups from the blocks for your balls, and then shoot them at your opponent to score hits and win.
