Just finished: short and sweet. 5 stars.
Great graphics, great music, excellent gameplay. And to think that this has been made with RPG Maker! Mindblowing

Interesting concept.

Thank you. At present I am focusing on the ARPG free dlc, so the next game could be not a Little Adventurers entry. By the end of the year though I'd like to make a Little Adventurers 3.

Thank you for your feedback.

When I remake the game I will probably change the statue puzzle, although I would not like to dumb it down too much. By the way there is a huge hint (if not even the solution) hidden in the dungeon.

Damn.

Temporary solution would be to add back all the image files from the first game. But who knows what other errors may come out? Errors on music files, effect files?

Definitive solution (hopefully) would be to reupload the game with a new ID, with the risk of making saved games unusable. Uhmmm since it is a pretty short game I may go with this second option.

Oooh, this is interesting.

Since I am on a mac, I often play RPG Maker games with a browser on a localhost with MAMP, so I knew that if you play from the browser you can see save games from other RPG Maker games. However they are usually greyed out and not usable.
I guess that the reason why in this case you can select them is that both this game and the previous one share the same ID (in the System 2 tab). I could create a new ID, but I fear that doing this could make all the saved games created so far unusable. Since it looks like this issue is not preventing you to enjoy the game, I will just leave it like that for now.

Ok, now img/faces/emilyfaceemotions2.png should be there.

Does it work?

That png was used for the faces in the first game (The Wizard's Tower). Since I built this second project on top of that, probably there is some leftover, somewhere, maybe even in an unused map, that still points to the old faces. If I don't find the culprit I will just add the file back when I go back home.

Thank you! That file should not be used in the game. I'll look into the issue this evening.

I think it is very well made, lots of mechanics not normally seen in RPG games, and RPG Maker games even less. I like the platform bits, the character is quite responsive and they add variety. I suppose this is a plugin you made? Looking at the name of the file. Really nice.
Other positive points:
- I liked the camera work during the cut scenes.
- I appreciated that the game gives you the option to save before an important decision near the end.
- I also suppose that different decisions at this point will lead to multiple endings, which is impressive. I have not played all the way through though.
- The warmth mechanism is another original feature that adds some flavour to the gameplay, particularly during some platform stages, where it pushes the player to be fast.

On the other hand, it can be frustrating in some parts, especially the bosses. They take some time to defeat. I faced the second form of the Ice Queen and man she keeps healing and healing and healing. I haven't finished her yet because the fight was really dragging on, after the previous one which is also kind of long.
Maybe it would also be better to explicitly tell the player when they should save, or to remind them in some way, because forgetting can really lead to some upsetting results. E.g.: I defeated the first form of the queen, I thought the game was finished so I approached her and BAM another boss fight - and I had not saved. I understand that saving is also responsibility of the player, but it is better to help them or they may just give up.

Nevermind, I found a way. The following bit with the gargoyles is a bit unforgiving though.

Is that big monster in the throne room supposed to be so strong? No matter the attack he only takes 1 point damage.

Ok, now in the puzzle room there is an inscribed stone precisely telling the player what the puzzle is about.

Furthermore, there is one huge hint hidden in the dungeon. The content of the riddles and the solutions have not changed.

Thank you. I am thinking of a way to integrate that smoothly. Maybe I could set a timer and when the timer goes off one of the characters gives a hint to the player.

Thank you for your feedback.

The log is up!

Uhm, I am not sure why this happened to you. At first I thought that the "excluding unused files" option may have cut down the Bodyslam effect file (one of the frost bear moves), but it is there, in the effect folder, everything looks fine. I tried to play from the browser and I could not replicate the error. The bear's bodyslam move executes without problems.

Could that have been a glitch in the HTML5 player of itch.io I wonder?

Thank you! I'll look into that.

I will add a log with the solution this evening.

After their trip to the wizard's tower, it is time for a new adventure for Emily,  Alan and Aghren.

Winter has come to Little Town, and the holidays are approaching! Legends tell of the gentle Ice Queen, who brings presents to all good people. Is she real? Is she just a fairy tale? Let's find out!

"Little Adventurers 2 - The Legendary Ice Queen " is a 2D RPG reminding in style the old 16bit RPGs of Super Famicom/Super Nintendo and Sega Genesis/Megadrive. This is the sequel to  "Little Adventurers - The Wizard's Tower", and it is recommended (though not strictly necessary) to play the first game, in order to better know the characters and their back story.

This game is intended to be an entry for the RPG Maker Game Jam #1
It is my second game and it will offer, I hope, a pleasant 30-60 minutes of play to all fans of JRPG games.

Thank you, now it works. I am going to try it this weekend!

Fantastic, really well made! I would say even more enjoyable than the official NES games!

Sadly, the Mac demo crashes when you go from "New Game" -> "Close". I am on a M1 Monterey if that can help.

Thank you!
