Hey Kirlian! Thanks for taking the time to comment, unfortunately though our subscription is a three month minimum because of the digital nature of our products. Appreciate your situation though!

Can see your point, but this is a Synty Jam intended for Synty fans! There are plenty of other jams you can join which don’t require use of our assets. We’re also running an enormous sale alongside this jam to make it even more approachable.

I think that’s fine :)

The sale and the jam start at the exact same time. It shouldn’t matter if the sale doesn’t begin before the jam, since you have no idea what the theme is yet anyhow! We are always asked to run a sale alongside our jams so folks can pick up assets they want/need for the jam.

Yes, but once again, the spirit of the jam is that the game is visually Synty. We’d expect custom models to be limited, and the visual majority to be Synty!

This is covered in the rules clearly :)

Asset packs that are not Synty are not allowed

This is a solo only jam :)

Hey everyone! The spirit of the jam is that the games produced are visually predominantly Synty.

It’s alright for you to use custom fonts, sounds, and music, because we don’t make those obviously. The point of the rule is to ensure games are visually Synty. So for example it’s fine to use custom simple UI elements, but if your game was predominantly UI based and you’re making everything custom, then the game would no longer be mostly Synty. It’s hard to make a rule that covers everything, but the key idea here is keeping the games visually, obviously Synty.

Very cool concept! Would be awesome to see some more dramatic lighting, and some areas our eyes could be naturally drawn towards.

Is that Santa!? Is that a watermelon!? The prophecy does as some interesting questions indeed…

The story telling idea here is intruiging, but the dressing and camera angle could be more interesting!

Possibly the lights in this one are a little bright, obscuring the story telling elements of the shot. There’s something interesting about the “looking down from the audience” perspective that could be dialled up!

This shot has some interesting narrative components happening, but maybe could have benefitted from being zoomed in a little. A more dramatic camera angle also may have helped to focus the viewer’s eye and tell the story!

This one really made us laugh! Maybe we should have a self portrait jam…

If we had a hot dog man award, this would be the winner (maybe we SHOULD have a hot dog man award…)

It’s giving the vibe of expired film. At first we thought the knight might be proposing, so the camera angle may not have been telling quite the right story here. Love the blurred background!

Love the scale, almost a scene within a scene. Some indication of where the lighting was coming from would be awesome!

Really love the restrained use of colour here to focus the eye! Could maybe have benefitted from being a bit more zoomed in and captured at a more dynamic angle to focus the storytelling.

This shot is really dynamic, but maybe could have benefitted from being zoomed in a little. A more dramatic camera angle also may have helped to focus the viewer’s eye and tell the story!

So ominous! Would have loved to have seen a bit more light on the character to emphasise the creature lurking in the shadows. Love the restrained use of colour.

The action elements of the shot feel like they are happening quite far away, making it hard to read the story of the image overall. But love the vibe!

Really interesting storytelling elements going on here, but our eye doesn’t focus on any one thing in particular so maybe reframing or some more dramatic lighting could have help drive the narrative!

Hidden temple vibes! The use of the red lights really gave this a ton of atmosphere and mystery.

Love the hazy, dreamlike atmosphere. Certainly makes us wonder what the story is here.

Very fun idea - gives lion king vibes, love the colouring, and view of the camp in celebration, could do with a few more characters feels a little abandoned for this kind of momentous occasion!

Long live the fighters! We want to give a huge shoutout here for innovation in finding an efficient way to place that many disciples in one scene! For the sands!

A classic, dynamic battle shot! We can clearly imagine the sounds accompanying this shot.

Cool FPS perspective and the scene itself if put together well, we could imagine this as a funny animated short! Subtle use of blue to focus on the goblin character, and just the right amount of “busy-ness” going on!

Really nice, restrained use of colour and light to tell a story. Love the story this tells, walking through a trove of ages past.

This feels like such a moment, and the film grain aesthetic is restraied but beautiful, combined with the fantastic lighting and composition. Lisan Al Gaib!

We really like the cinematic feel, the god rays especially. We might have preferred without the text, we weren’t sure how it was appearing in world, maybe better as symbols or decipherable glyphs?

A really great entry with strong story telling components! Some of the background shapes on the right are just getting a bit muddled together without contributing to the story.

We love the otherwordly look, has a real heavenly feel. Dynamic camera gives it a lot of momentum, and the colour highlights the focal points. Would love it if we could drop in and play and learn more about this world!

Very visually striking, the colours and lighting is fantastic. Great framing and use of colour!

We love how vibrant this scene is, the POV is really interesting and colours all compliment each other well. The hero story element of the shotis clear, the background is visually interesting and providing narrative context, but not distracting from the hero moment.

We really enjoyed the use of scale and lighting, especially the use of green to connect the golem with the item in the characters hand. The balanced use of space for background/foreground elements and the giant’s pose gives it the right amount of weightiness for it’s scale. Great job!

You can, yes, ideally we prefer the use of Synty UI packs, but we understand that due to our limited library at the moment, we allow this

Unfortunately, we wouldn’t accept VR submissions as not all of the Synty team own a VR headset. As this would significantly limit how many of the team can judge the project

Invalid submissions will be disqualified during the submission period and at the end if any sneak through :)
