Happy to share!

Thank you very much for your kind words.

Glad to hear!

Thank you very much!

Thank you! It's true I focused exclusively on the main campaign. I should definitely look into extra features like rereads and a gallery mode, now that you mention it.

Thank you for the extremely in-depth feedback! Everybody seems to be in agreement the presentation really helped sell the short story which makes me happy. You are right about the headers. Maybe red text for game overs would help since I originally wanted to have red blood for black and white illustrations before ditching the idea. Regarding the anachronism, I did not try to make it 1:1 with the era (thus the magnum simply being called an 18XX) and chocolate cake was invented only a few years after the scene took place in our world, so I figured it was close enough. You're absolutely right about things like the peanut butter jar though. To my surprise, it wasn't invented until about a century after this VN takes place! I'll definitely replace that line if I update this. Thank you again.

Glad to hear the presentation helped. And no worries, cool game yourself.

Thank you, I like your black and white aesthetics too.

"Starts with a bang"

I see what you did there. Thank you so much for playing!

Thanks again for showing me your game.

Thank you! I'm glad you appreciated the pictures and audio design. I'll look into revising the main menu at some point. I gave your demo a play and left a review. Awesome stuff!

Thank you very much!

I consider that one the canon ending so congratulations.

Thank you for your feedback! If you get to chapters 3 and 4 I'd love to hear your full thoughts!

Thank you! I will add music and cutscene graphics after the jam is over.

Thanks for playing and reaching ending 8! I consider that one the "true" ending if I had to pick one.

Thank you! I like to make story-centric games so with a three-hour span, Twine just felt natural.

Linux port is up!

Thanks for playing! I'm glad you enjoyed it. I made this project to come to grips with RPG Maker myself, so it was nice.

Thanks for the feedback, I kept it in mind. I just released an updated version with bug fixes, typos changed, roughly 40% as many random encounters, and a small amount of extra NPC dialogue. Likely not worth a replay, but I'll make a full-fledged release for Steam this year no doubt.

Thank you for your feedback!

The kind words are much appreciated and I’m glad you approached the game the way I was hoping!

I wanted Bushi to be a very specific type of character rather than a self-insert, if I’m being honest. I may an ending split involving a different character, however. After all you’re the second person to comment on this, so now I gotta get my thinking cap on.

Great to have feedback from another RPG maker.

I made the page turn with a video editor. Two cutscenes are FMVs.

I will definitely touch up the house sizes soon. I unfortunately only made the towns in about two hours.

The forest is messy on purpose for plot reasons. Should I keep only bones?

Alt endings go against the story I want to tell, honestly.

Good idea. I will add WASD support to the game.

I appreciate the kind words so much. Thanks!

Thank you! I'll reduce the random encounters for the Steam release.

The bosses were deliberately easy since I didn't want a game jam game to be too drawn out. Perhaps I could extend their HP pools a bit, at least.

I'm very honored to hear that.

Thank you for your review! I tried to integrate dialogue into fights when possible, but I was only able to fine-tune the AI of a few enemies like the warden or integrate mid-battle dialogue into a few bosses. I'd definitely like to touch this element up more for a V2.0.

Very grateful for the feedback! I'll definitely lower the encounter rate for my Steam release. I'll add a web build after the jam is over, I had trouble getting it running since I submitted at the tail end of the jam.

Hey I'm really glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for the kind words :)

Thank you for the review! I didn't have much time to squeeze the story into so I'm glad it had the desired impact! I'll definitely lower the encounter rate for a Steam release then.
