Wow, this art is so cool! it really feels right out of a children's book. Great job with the sounds, they're super satisfying :)

This is such an interesting idea! I know fine tuned details and tutorials aren't always feasible for a game jam, but spending some time on the wording and presentation of rules could go a long way in the next part. The mechanics seem solid and you have a good amount of different beads, so it doesn't seem like you need much change on those fronts!
The comment below makes a lot of great points. I think the one about showing the color rules separately could apply to the bead material as well- maybe you could have a reference sheet visible at all times, that the player can switch pages on to see the rules for all colors or all materials. That way when you hover over a bead, it only has to say the color and material, and there's a consistent place to look for the rules.
I think having a convention for how the rules are written would help with the readability too. For example:
(current rule for glass)-- "if a gemstone is placed between two glass beads on each side, all involved base points are multiplied by 2."
(alt format)--"2x base points to group when a Gemstone has 2 Glass beads on each side"
^the bolded words help identify the key points, and I think the 'effect first, then how to do it' formatting is a little more common and recognizable for roguelikes.
Some visuals would help even more! a low-budget way to show a chain like above in text could just be (OOXOO), where if you use it consistently 'X' is established to be the first property mentioned in the rule (gemstone). You already do something similar in some rules (ABCBA), I think it just needs to be used more regularly to stick in players' brains.
Great work again! Excited to see what you come up with for the next part of the jam :)
Cute! It seems like you have a solid base for adding more content in the next phase :)
A lot of nostalgic dress up games that this reminds me of use a bunch of sparkly effects when you reveal an outfit, and even little popping animations to give feedback when you click on anything. Stuff like that might be good to add in the next phase to really sell the ~vibes~
Ooh great job on making this feel tactical! between the string physics, the dragging movement and the sounds it's all very nice and crunchy (positive)
I agree with the other comment about the background; I think if you make that a little more muted it'd be much easier on the eyes, and easier to tell the difference between the bead shapes.
Well done, it feels nicely polished! I'm excited to see what else you add :)
I love the 2.5D art, the way the animals hop and flip around is so charming!
I'm not sure if it's some weird optical illusion, but some combination of the overall aspect ratio, the shape of the dog, and the perspective makes moving up and down feel slower and less pleasant than moving sideways. (Actually, it probably is the perspective- if it's on a 3D ground plane with an angled camera, the same distance will feel shorter bc it's squashed by the orthographic camera )
I wonder if manually making the up/down movement faster would help with the gamefeel?
I think the idea has a lot of potential, the controls are just a little too confusing to get used to. It's not always clear when I'm doing something incorrectly or if there's a bug. Nice music though and I could see this being a really relaxing puzzle game if some bugs and the controls were ironed out!
Thank you all for the comments and feedback! I've uploaded an update that disables the diagonal movement, as that wasn't intended to be possible.
There seems to still be some glitches with the character's rotation occasionally, but they do not appear for me in engine so I think it's wonkyiness on the html5 export side :/
I also added arrow key support in case that is more intuitive for some, but be warned that the up/down keys make the page scroll, which gets pretty annoying.
The overall unintuitiveness of WASD in isometric view was just poor planning on my part, but all in all thank you so much for testing this game out!
