Fantastic game and interpretation of both the theme and limitation.
My only note is that the level select hover sound is a quite piercing, but that's very minor. The rest of the sound and music is great.
This was cool (and quite tough) as someone else said I really like the random events. I did not take enough notice of my dwindling resources on my first attempt and was just blindly increasing loyalty. This did not go well.
My interface was unfortunately very squished, which made it a little overwhelming to look at. I was looking for a full screen button but couldn't see one in Firefox or chrome, but the screenshots of the UI look really nice so I have rated based on those for presentation.
I won! Nice game and interpretation of the limitation.
I found that the speed upgrades didn't seem that useful to me as I was able to spawn so many units that they would slow down on corners/by towers anyway - but that may just be my perception.
Kudos for having so many entities on screen at once, the game ran very well.
I do think it was quite easy as the units are free and I can just keep spawning them, but still very fun.
Nice work!
Really nice interpretation of the limitation. It felt a little bit strange to me that when there are multiple of the same word I would only get credit for typing one. For whatever reason I wanted to be able to hit both at once.
I liked the colour matching element to the gameplay though, that added some word choice strategy.
Nice work!
Lots to like about this game, the art in particular.
I liked the concept of the game, I just wish there was a little more to do (although I understand as it is a short jam). I couldn't tell if keeping my workers bars high was making me more money so I opted to mostly just let them work until the exclamation mark appeared above their head.
Could do with a game speed toggle as well, I made it to December but stopped there as it got a little repetitive.
Still a really great entry, especially for such a short game jam. Well done!
Nice this was quite fun, my best score was only 49, not sure how good that is.
I had a few moments where I think I ran out of time to input, rather than inputting the wrong key (maybe?) It was a little unclear, maybe a hint at how much time is remaining for each input could be an improvement? Not sure.
Fire effect was nice!
Well done.
Took me back to my starcraft 2 days, highest score was I think 35.3(?) or something similar.
Gets very chaotic fast, which is quite fun. Can be a little frustrating as the game goes on as there can be so many guys on screen that you can only reasonably drag select one at a time anyway, but maybe that's on me for letting it get out of hand!
Nice game.
Fun take on the limitation, I somehow missed that you could move around with WASD (apparently I can't read) and was having a rough time. Once I realised that I had a lot more fun, nice work!
I know there is a leveling system, but having select-able upgrades or something after each wave could be a fun addition too.
Thank you so much for playing, yeah there are a few bugs like that as a result of how I did riding on ramps etc, didn't quite have time to go through and fix them unfortunately.
Yes keyboard controls were unfortunately an afterthought and make the game considerably harder, hopefully you'll give it another chance with a controller.
Thanks again !
Really cool concept and use of the theme, also really cool art style.
I feel like the first half of the game (taking calls, increasing connection etc.) in the small room was the strongest part. It felt like one of those great niche horror games that take place in one location (Iron Lung for example) and I really think it could be used to tell a really great story/make a great game.
I felt the second half, after I possessed Franz was a little weaker. Art style-wise and also story-wise, I wasn't really sure if there was a way to avoid the strange creature/spectre.
Overall though I really enjoyed your game! Well done.
There were some minor issues with the text in the UI during conversations also, but it wasn't a huge deal. (Windows download, haven't tested web build).
Cool game! I ran into a bug in the last room on the web version so I tried the windows version and the same thing happened. The enemy AI seems to go a bit rogue and they wander into the corner of the room. I was still able to pull the lever and finish the game though so no big deal.
First I really enjoyed the art style, and especially enjoyed the gun reloading animation. Movement felt good, but I wish I could jump (although I know there's no real reason to jump, it felt like an old school shooter so I wanted to bunny hop around).
I think the enemies are a bit too easy, I didn't get hit. I think if they had a projectile or were a bit faster (with maybe bigger rooms) it could have been a bit more challenging.
The idea of using the power of the gun to unlock/power doors is really cool, I wish there was a bit more done with that concept - it seems like there could be something more to explore here.
Enjoyed the game, well done.
Lovely atmosphere, art, and story. The characters each had great designs and were written well with distinct personalities and I really enjoyed the music. Unfortunately I did not solve the murder. :(
Some feedback:
I was never quite sure if I had new dialogue unlocked with each of the characters, which had me clicking through old conversations to see if there was something new I missed that would give me a new piece of evidence in the journal, maybe an indicator if there's new dialogue available? (Unless I missed this somehow).
The journal mechanic is really nice in theory but I think in practice it was a bit unclear how I was suppose to connect each piece together. Visually really well done though.
Great game!
