Hi everyone!

We’re incredibly excited to finally release the PHASE ZERO Demo on itch.io - the place where it all began!

A few years ago, we took part in a small, casual game jam dedicated to PSX-style games. It gave us the opportunity to fulfill a long-standing dream of creating a game with pre-rendered backgrounds.

What we never expected was the overwhelming response and support we received from all of you on this platform. It gave us the motivation and confidence to push the project further and turn it into a full-length game.

That is how PHASE ZERO came to be: a modern reimagining of the classics from survival horror’s golden era. The story unfolds over a series of chapters told from the perspective of different survivors. Featuring prerendered backgrounds, fixed cameras and the DNA of the PSX masterpieces, it blends nostalgic design with modern quality-of-life improvements, while honoring its iconic roots.

Thank you again for giving us the support and encouragement to keep going. We hope you enjoy the new demo, and you can expect the full game later this year!

Cheers,
SPINA Studio

We've started a new project based on BioCrisis, and it's coming to Steam. You can check it out here: https://store.steampowered.com/app/3462190/PHASE_ZERO/

Thank you! The static environments are pre-rendered in editor view in Unreal Engine.

Hi! Sadly, right now I'm unable to make a Mac build.

Hej! Dzięki! Cieszę się że się podobało :)

Hi! The logic for camera changes is pretty simple. For every camera view there is a trigger volume placed on the scene. If there is a place where a few triggers overlaps I'm using a simple priority value to know which camera view should be used.

Thank you for your feedback! I'm glad you enjoyed the game :D

Wow! This is Amazing! :D

Thanks!

Much appreciated!

Hi! I'm not sure how to answer your questions, but I will try :) Game was made in unreal engine 4 from scratch during the game jam development period. Most of the game assets comes from 'free for the month' content packs from unreal engine  marketplace. Backgrounds are captured in the editor and then composed in runtime with some interactive parts of the scene. Artists who worked on this project are my friends. Three week development process of this game was quite wild but we are very happy with the result and kinda overwhelmed with the response we got :) If you want to know more about the technical details or anything about the project you should be able to find me on 32-bit game jam discord, I'm lurking there as 'Krzysztof'.

Thank you! I'm glad you enjoyed it! Manual reload is on the way!

Thank you!

Thanks!

Thank you for playing! The very first item you can pick up and use is a 'Food Can' that restores your health and makes the game much easier :)

Thank you! Great review!

Thank you! Great video! First five seconds are gold!

Thank you for a great review! Just like you said in the video, there are some missing classic features due to the time constraint of the game jam formula. We would love to add more good stuff to this game later :)
