I really enjoyed playing this game! It's such a cozy game and I really love how the petal picking mechanics fits so well with both the theme of the jam and the overall narrative. Feels kind've like a coming of age slice of life story. I also enjoyed the writing and visuals! Overall a really fun simple yet unique game and story!
The artstyle is really amazing! I also really love the atmosphere and concept of the game as a whole! Just wow wow wow.
It took a bit for me to understand the mechanics and there were a few bugs, but considering the time constraints, it doesn't really matter that much. I'd be happy to see if this game gets worked on more after the jam :)
The day cycle, multiple endings, and Paper Mario-inspired aesthetic all come together to create a very cohesive vision with a strong climate message! I also really love the idea of "planting a seed" through community action rather than a literal lens. One thing I'd be interested in seeing more of is what the player's day-to-day tasks or minigames look like so it's easier to imagine the moment-to-moment gameplay.
I really like the grafting mechanic, as it gives players an engaging way to learn about sustainability through gameplay. The overall presentation is very polished, and the gameplay loop, scope planning, and visual references make it easy to understand the team's direction. I don't personally really have any suggestions other than that I'm excited to see how this game will turn out!
I think your interpretation of "Plant a Seed" by changing people's mindsets is a really creative narrative approach that fits the jam theme well! The growing garden and changing night sky are also nice visual ways to show the player's progress and reinforce the impact of their decisions. One thing I am curious about however is providing a bit more detail on how conversations with NPCs work mechanically and how players would influence their opinions.
I really like how grounded the game would be because of your use of real-world gardening data and local Tucson ecology! Also the emphasis on helping players understand sustainable gardening while still creating an enjoyable farming gameplay experience. One thing I'd be curious about though is what kinds of events or gameplay moments will keep each playthrough feeling new beyond optimizing crops and resources?
