Cuties :)

(1 edit)

I really liked this game and how challenging it was.

I also liked all the short little dialogues after each level. It put me in a state of relief after each level before heading into the more challenging level.

Just an overall good game.

I do think the story can be worked on a bit since I wasn't entirely hooked on what it told.

Here's my game: https://itch.io/jam/brackeys-4/rate/724268

I would like some feedback to improve on please.

The game is overall really well made, cool, and does have potential to be something even greater. I really like the concept of running out of tape and having to rewind (while being able to kill your enemies when in a pinch). There was a bit of emergent gameplay which was fun.

Keeping in mind that you only had a week to make this game, I would like to offer some improvements that I think can make the game flow better and be more exciting if you continued development on it.

- I really like the loss of tape mechanic, but I genuinely think it can be more fun if you put more emphasis on how important it is to prevent yourself from wasting too much tape. For example, I found the game a bit satisfying but easy when I was able to constantly rewind myself and kill the enemies in my rewind path. I feel the experience of rewinding would be more special and rewarding when you had to save the rewind for the perfect moment rather than constantly being able to use it and devalue the power it possesses.

I was able to build a strategy around using the rewind. For example I was able to shoot at enemies while rewinding. I even wrapped the tape around an area and sat in the center of that area while shooting. Only when I was overran would I rewind killing all the enemies around me which I found pretty fun.

- Each level was refreshing with the different music, visuals, enemies, amount of enemies, and different powers you could use. However, the similar maps got a bit tiresome but I think that's because level 1 and 2 felt really similar in difficulty. Some levels felt really slow though. I wanted to retry some levels but just couldn't bring myself to it since each level felt sooo long to complete with no indication of how far I am into the level. At one point (I think in level 3), after I killed a wave of enemies, it took a good 10-15 seconds for another wave to appear.

- The initial level is alright and lets you get a hang of the game which is completely fine. However, when I beat the first level, the game took awhile to show me the end game screen as the music was getting more and more quiet. I just think the game needs to be quicker to show you that you beat a level rather than leaving you hanging there to move around for a good 7-10 seconds.

- I do think level 4 is really cool and that it gives you a fast shooting gun and you have to fight off a ton of enemies while using the strategies I thought of. I felt cool.

Overall I think the game is pretty cool, I just think the tape mechanic can be worked more on and emphasized more. I also think the flow of the game just needs to be a little bit faster. Good job!

Edit: The music was groovy.

Here's my game: https://itch.io/jam/brackeys-4/rate/724268

I'll give you some feedback, but I want some really constructive feedback to get better as a designer

Thanks for the feedback!

I do believe I should've spent more time on making the black box easier. Thanks for the feedback! :D

Thanks!

Thanks for the feedback! I did attempt to make the black square more fair during development but it seems I didn't help the issue. You're right that there is no clear motivation, but we tried to convey it through the heart that would appear every time we saw her. Again thanks for the feedback!

Since he was stuck in the corner, I wouldn't be able to place a block without killing him.  It's no problem.

I really liked how this game has many different lines you can go through. The invisible balls and the speedup does give this game a nice challenge. If only there was some sound whenever you scored. I like how the game looks visually, but it would be nice if the balls themselves were cool. Good game!

I think the design is alright and fun. I really liked the graphics but the audio could use some variety. The idea that when you're caught, you have excuses is nice instead of instantly losing. I understand how you expressed the theme through blinded parents with their perfect child, but I feel it wasn't as obvious when I first played. But that's just me. Otherwise this game was alright.

This game is fun and spooky. I like the concept of the flashlight and how scarce your ammo is. I enjoyed how a little story was being told along the way. The music is simple, nice, and doesn't take away from the game. My only suggestion is to allow players to see the enemies directly above or below them to give some form of a chance since the enemies would attack before you'd see them in frame (Although this did add to the spookiness ._. ). I really enjoyed it!

This is a well developed game all around with varying levels, neat art, and some dangerously catchy music. I love how each map was different and how they made you act quick. One suggestion is in level 9. It would be nice to make the AI survive if they brush past the broken heart box while on the speed boost despite blocking the path to the broken heart box straight ahead of him. Another suggestion I have applies to level 8. It would be nice if the AI would get out the spot where you'd place a block since the AI was just stuck there if I placed the block above him at the wrong time.  Again, this game was made very well all around. :D

I definitely see potential in this game. The sound effects are good and the overall game is nice especially for someone working in a part time job. The only suggestion I have would be to make the maze level a little more interesting. Other than that, nice work.

I love the music and the art put into this. It's satisfying at the end of each level to see the particles go everywhere revealing the level around you. The only question I have is: Why is there an eye to the right of the end screen? Again, cool game.

Thanks for the feedback! I agree that the music loop could've been better, but we were running out of time and the fix just didn't feel entirely necessary. The black box (I call it Birb) staying at your last death wasn't intended, but it did leave a nice opening for people to get around him.  He was making development turn into a horror game for me xD. Again thanks for the feedback!

Your game was really cool and fun. I thought the art was cute and the music wasn't bad at all. The only suggestion I have is for the final room. The narrow platform at the start of the room made it hard to get up to the top section. And when I came down from the top section, I'd glitch through the ground when I held down the down button when falling. Other than that nice work!
